We ended up sharing both the Beef Bourguignon and the Duck Confit at this place, which we stopped at after visiting the Sacre Coeur.
In my opinion, the bourguignon was the significantly better of the two. The beef was super tender, and very easy to cut apart. You practically didn't need a fork and knife - it was that easy to cut through. This carried over when biting through, as there just was a very nice and easy satisfying feeling to each bite that I really enjoyed
The wine sauce was an incredible complement to this dish. It was super rich and flavorful, and the amount of sauce acted like a fantastic coating for the beef, soaking into the meet and combining the two flavors together. the sauce also acted as a great dipping liquid for the fried potatoes The fried potatoes were not so good, however
On the contrary, the duck confit was something I liked less. It was on the drier side, and pretty far from being juicy. the skin wasn't really crispy either, and mostly felt hard on the outside rather than a crisp texture. it wasn't inedible or anything, but was less enjoyable to get through than the beef dish
Since these were shared, the price per person ended around 23 euros, which isn't too bad
Overall, the bourguignon would have gotten a 9/10, and the duck confit a 7/10, so I'll average...
Read moreThis is the best restaurant in Montmartre and even the whole Paris during this trip. We have walking around the Montmartre around lunch time with no particular plan and looked at few restaurants around but nothing really stood up… until… the destiny brought us to Le Relais Gascon- the best restaurant during our whole trip! The food and ambience was 10/10 but what made this restaurant unforgettable was the attentiveness and friendliness of staff. The attention to details and care for the customer was exceptional. It just had a really homely and welcoming feeling. Although it was chilly February, we decided to have our lunch/ dinner outside and we are so glad we did that as we where watching the life of Montmartre to pass by. We made a memories and friendship of a lifetime just by simply spending the time at this incredible restaurant. (Which we only later found out is loved by celebrities too) The menu had some great traditional French cuisine and choice for even the fussiest eater. Aside of incredible food and delicious drink ( Kir Royal is a must when in Paris), we will never forget the owner Marco who made us feel so welcome, went above and beyond to make our stop extra special. If you are in Paris- it’s a must try restaurant for its location, food, service and ambience. Don’t miss...
Read moreI ate 3 dinners there as it is close to my hotel in Pigalle. Overall loves the food, will recommend. Service is top notch. My wife didn't like the steak and they changed it immediately.
escargot - absolutely delicious, had it for all 3 nights onion soup - light and fresh and flavorful, not so salty Egg with mayonnaise sauce - really is just that, boiled eggs with mayo and salad. Will not repeat, nothing special
Confit de Canard - delicious duck meat. sauce might be too seat for some, but overall excellent faux filet - my wife asked for well done, but it was overcooked and way too char tasted. Service immediately took it back and asked if she like something else. Boeuf Bourguinon - meat is excellent, sauce is great flavor, but maybe a little too salty. cassoulet - to die for. Will highly recommend this dish to anyone Onglet a E'chalotte - My wife got this after she send the faux steak back. I don't know if they did it wrong but the beef ain't thinly sliced at all. But the food and sauce are all excellent. Steak Tartare - the meat is fresh and tasted well, but not seasoned much. Its nice but will not repeat
Overall very much enjoy the food and restaurant and its service. Will come back again and highly recommended for the inexpensive...
