Koff is a little slice of Americana in the heart of northern Paris. And what always amazes me is that every time I've been in there, it's full of French people. Not overwhelmingly touristy and not just a place for Americans missing food from home.
Apparently Koff ranks as one of the top 10 burger joints in Paris. Well, it might as well be #1. I live in Austria, and this is the best burger I've found in Europe, indeed better than most I've found in the US. No exaggeration. Leave it to the French to perfect a typically American dish.
The burgers are big and juicy; and the buns, veggies, and other toppings are all fresh. Fries are also delicious, and portions are very generous (and no ketchup restrictions, unlike many burger places in Europe!).
Meanwhile, the owner, David, and his colleagues are always friendly, even when they are slammed with business and customer turnover is high.
Location is unbeatable: narrow alleyway on the slopes below the Sacre Coeur. Outdoor seating is the way to go in nice weather, though it's very comfortable inside as well - fab American paraphernalia and decor! Great place to grab a bite between sight-seeing and shopping in this charming area...
Read moreMy wife & I were in the mood for burgers on the 4th of July (American Independence Day) & decided to give Koff a go. We started with two cold beers (Budweiser & Duff) & a chicken quesadilla, which was perfectly cooked/prepared & it came with a side of guacamole & sour cream (crème fraîche) & a small arugula (roquette) salad with cherry tomatoes & heated balsamic vinegar (this sweetens & lowers the acidity). We both took the bacon cheeseburger, where both the bacon & burger were overcooked (we ordered medium & received well-done & the bacon was nearly as hard as a rock). However, despite the issue with the bacon (we suspect that this isn't a common occurrence), we both enjoy well-done burgers also & didn't mind. The burger buns & fries were quite good & the spoon of coleslaw was decent.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience, in a slightly less touristy area of Abbesses (which we appreciate) & we'll likely return & recommend the place to our family & friends. The staff is bi-lingual (English & French at least) & there's plenty of outdoor seating given the size of...
Read moreAlmost perfect. Went there today before a nice walk in montmartre with my gf and another couple of friends. Somebody recommended this place to us so we were willing to taste its burgers. We had a bacon burger (the girls) and the blue ohene the guys plus cheese nachos and a cheesecake. Everything was fantastic, so tasty and tender. Really quality and nice food.
Besides the service was pretty nice, they were friendly and no complaint. The only thing we didnt like is that we waited almost an hour between the nachos and the burger. I guess not their fault. but they didnt pay attention because we arrived before two other tables and they had their main dish before us. They wanted to apologize and they offered us some free cofee.
I recommend the place. If it wasnt because of the waiting time I would be giving 5 stars and i normally dont do it. Price was correct...
