Carré Pain de Mie — Restaurant in Paris

What a shame. First time I review something because I can't eat it. The shop close at 20h00 but they stop selling sandwiches at 19h00... Officially... Even at 18h45 they stop selling them ! Rumors say that they are good even if a little too pricey. For me, after four tries (one too late, two because they stop selling even before 19h and one because they had a shortage of the sandwich I wanted to eat) it'll stay a rumour.

The review is for the difficulty to get a sandwich. It's the only restaurant I tried four time and each time got refused... Even when I tried to come early as they asked...

It's surely good but I can only advise that if you think you'll arrive a "little" BEFORE (15 minutes isn't little) the closing service time... Dont't bother try,...

The worst experience in Paris. Very unfriendly to new guests who do not know the rules. We were not informed to decide takeaway or dine-in. after we paid and tried to sit inside, they told us we ordered takeaway and we cannot dine in. It's underatandble but still a bit annoying，because the employee did not even ask us to choose while we were ordering. She kept empathizing that it’s written on the paper, but we weren’t prepared to read all the messy signs but only focused on reading the menu. It was too hot outside, so we went back to the restaurant to order another sandwich as dine in again. they agreed we can sit inside with newly ordered sandwich, but the old takeaway food cannot be eaten. It is ridiculous and I couldn’t believe how inflexible and...

We knew nothing about this place but just looking at the menu stand outside we were curious. We were going to eat inside but the prices are pretty high and the space isn’t that big. Here is the best advice, order a loaf of the “Carré” bread, sliced in 10 pieces. Just to try and compare, order a half of the “Toast” bread. (But the clear winner is the “Carré” loaf, the texture and taste is amazing) Also, order the sandwiches which are for takeaway orders only, for €4,50 you get a small hot ham and cheese sandwich. Try the Pain Perdu French Toast, it is so good. Take it all to the nearby Pompidou and eat it outside. Be careful about dropping any crumbs, the pigeons will come in a scary...
