We came Chez Marie before Moulin Rouge, as I've read great reviews and food looked lovely. The disappointment of this place from start to finish. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND. We had a booking for 8.30pm, arrived few minutes early and was told table before not done and to wait outside. 10 mins passed and someone asked if we want drinks outside but we didn't as it was a cold evening. Finally 9pm our table was done, we were sat at the table and they still had to set it. I understand running late etc but they should have move the people quicker as they were late not us. Starters were actually nice. Mains, terrible. We order a chicken burger-no onion and 2 "beef steaks" (medium) definitely wasn't a steak don't know what part of beef it was. All came out looking lovely until you tried to eat. Chicken burger covered in onion, dry chicken and the sauce was weird and know I've realised there was no cheese on it either. "Beef steak" definitely not medium, they were raw. You cut into and it was bleeding. We asked to cook again and it was still raw. It was also a strange cut, as it was impossible to chew. You were constantly chewing it. The meat I wouldn't even feed my dogs with it. Chicken burger I left most on the plate as I did not enjoy it and "beef steak" more than 60% was also left on plate. Plates full of food taken away and nothing ask if okay or not. Pure and utter ignorance we received. We paid and left as we couldn't bare in this shocking restaurant.
If you are visiting AVOID not worth the hype, the price or anything.
Update after I posted this review I received a message from restaurant to my PERSONAL phone asking me remove...
Read moreWe came in at 11 to get Onion Soup, turned away apparently they weren’t open yet, only serving coffee. 2 stars for the waiter as he was very kind, but there should be further clarification on the website or google maps to say they are coffee only until 12.
Edit to add: I am really glad the kitchen was closed, the response from the owner below is terrible and I am glad we didn’t support this business. I still stand by the fact my star review is for the gentleman working, if not, it would be 0 stars. Avoid at all costs, absolutely ridiculous that they cannot take criticism obviously! We had onion soup elsewhere, and it was delicious, no private chef required!
Edit 2: Owner changed their review. Original review read: “You are just ridiculous, if we tell you that the kitchen is not open for soup, it is simply because the soup is not ready yet! You are so pathetic for your comment which is useless. Our kitchen opens at 12, period, get a...
Read moreWe had a truly wonderful experience at Chez Marie. This authentic, family-owned restaurant is a real gem — the kind of place where you can taste the love and tradition in every dish. The food was absolutely delicious, prepared with fresh ingredients and full of rich, authentic flavors that made each bite memorable.
The service was excellent as well — warm, attentive, and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place that combines such genuine hospitality with such outstanding cuisine.
Another big plus is the location. Chez Marie is perfectly situated for anyone planning a night out at the Moulin Rouge — it’s so convenient to enjoy a relaxed, wonderful dinner here before heading to the show.
Highly recommend this charming spot for anyone looking for an authentic Parisian...
