Chocolat Illèné — Local services in Paris

Was given a box of chocolates from here from my parents who visited a week ago. Maybe they are only good when fresh (?) but the chocolates I received were not good, lacking flavour.

The box they were presented in was badly fitting, and included a list of chocolates that were more than what was in the box so impossible to work out what some of them were and the chocolates were just loose in the box making them look quite cheap and like there wasn't much care taken when packing which is a pity as I just found out that that little box cost them £20 so I would have expected at least a little tissue paper or for the list of what's inside to match what's there for that price. Or for the chocolates to taste vaguely nice.

Wouldn't go here personally after this experience but I can see that there are lots of good reviews so maybe, if you taste the chocolates and enjoy them, try to gift any gift boxes sooner, as it's possibly that mine got worse from being in the box...

Small, innocent store. I bought 6 macarons and tasted some chocolate as well. Just looking around it is clear that this is mastery. The chocolate figures look excellent and the ones I tasted had great crisp, but also had a well-balanced taste. The macarons have the perfect texture. Soft and juicy inside, but that fine crisp outside. The coffee one has a strong, yet delicious coffee taste with a long aftertaste. Pistache has a creamy and precise pistache taste, but is more on the fresh side rather than the fat and rich side. Rose-framboise is mainly driven by strawberry, but rose rounds the flavour up perfectly. Vanille is less intense, almost shy and should be tasted before the others. DELICIOUS!!! I regret not buying more. I’m really not a macaron or chocolate lover, but wanted to bring back some treats for my family from my trip to Paris. Was planning on going to a few shops in St Germain, but it didn’t work out and I was feeling bummed. This happened to be close to my hotel in Montmarte, and I had noticed a big group in front of this location doing a food tour, so stopped in on my last evening.

They were SO nice and friendly! The Korean touch to some of the sweets were so well done. They were kind enough to explain everything. The macarons were the best I’ve ever had in my life.
