I have been here before and liked it, but unfortunately this weekend the service was really inpolite. I ordered "Magret canard" rosé and it came completely cooked. I told the waiter in a friendly way as in 'to bad' but I will eat it. She then took my plate, looked at it with a different bartender and threw the plate back on our table saying you are not right it is rosé without even looking at me. I pointed out that my friend had ordered the same and her duck was rosé and you can clearly see the difference and she just walked away. Then the other bartenders came over to say that they checked it with the kitchen and it could not be more rosé. Which was a lie since I had seen they never went to the kitchen with it and I told him that I dont understand why they are lying. No apologies nothing and they charged me the full price for it. Really bad service. I know in most places in Paris waiters are inpolite but since here the price is higher than a normal bistro but they have the same kind of food, you would expect it to be better. The owner apparently makes the staff pay for common mistakes, which is what service told us when we were not willing to pay for food that arrived cold after waiting for an hour (we didnt have the time for it to be re-heated which is why we had to refuse this option). First the service threatened to call the police (everything was very calm and respectful to this point) which we agreed on if the owner wasnt available to solve the issue. One of the waitresses then started to act extremely rude, telling us how wrong it was of us to make her and her colleague pay for the meal (kudos to the waitress that translated for us, she was nice the whole time), because this was the owners policy (never heard of such a horrible policy, mistakes happen but dont you encourage your staff to make the customer happy and not pass on emotional pressure?). You may sit on a stool at the bar and enjoy a glass of wine or a coffee.
Un Zèbre à Montmartre is a charming place to relax over a breakfast, lunch or dinner, or just a coffee.
The bartender, waiters and chef are all efficient and polite. I was happy that the bartender remembered me from a previous visit.
