Basic and comfort food like good⊠BUT⊠The most desired tradition of politeness and excellent customer service of Japanese restaurant is gone.
An old restaurant, like many vendors in the area have followed a practice that if your party is not complete they wonât seat you. Regardless of whether the restaurant is empty, if you are a party of 4 with 3 already arrived (still take up a 4 person table), even if itâs friggin freezing cold out on the street, or when you are a senior with two children. THEY DONât CARE. This practice and mentality is abusive, because they put consideration of profit first over human condition.
I donât care whether you are a Michelin rated joint or a hole in the wall. Food is human business. Be a decent human first. You SERVE food. Serve.
Dosanko blatantly made an old lady (in her 70âs) and two children wait outside in the cold for more than 15 minutes when the place is pretty empty. It is not acceptable. The only person missing was in her way after parking the car in nearby parking garage.
They finally sat them down at a table for 4 and they started ordering. When the driver arrived, they made her sit separately, alone! Are you feeding inmates in prison? Even in jail you can still join a table when thereâs an empty chair. This can cause a patron so much unneeded stress. Red flag!
Obviously they wanted the three to leave fast after eating, so theyâd not hold up the table while waiting for the last person to finish. Worse is that they used BS excuses about covid. Current French law didnât say a party of three sharing one table is ok, 4 is illegal.
Clearly COVID made all merchants lose a lot of business. But poor service and lies will make them lose even more. These clients have been patrons for way over a decade. It truly hurt their feelings. There were good memories attached to that place. Heart breaking.
Not sure if the business was sold and now the culture is different, or something happened (COVID???) that made them lose their spirit and usually high standard in customer service.
So if you think about go there check out the situation first before lining up. Make you will be respected as a customer. Do your math, check the pandemic lawâŠetc. Or good food will taste rotten. Not worth the hassle. There are many good alternatives...
Read moreThere are so many things wrong with this restaurant!! I tried the miso ramen thinking it'd be light but it was so greasy and salty that I felt so thirsty and had a severe stomach ache after I left the restaurant even though I'm a frequent ramen eater. Not to mention, the egg was overcooked for both me and my boyfriend's ramen. Also, our waitress was extremely rude!!!! Right after me and my boyfriend finished our meals quickly (within 15 min or so - we were starving) then he had to go use the restroom. This waitress came and removed our bowl (which is fine), then she came back to wipe down the table and took away our glasses of water as I'm about to reach for mine - I had to stop her. Then she looked at me with the dirtiest look and said "Madam, there's a long line of people waiting I need you to leave now and not take up this table." I was shocked that she would even say that to me when clearly my partner's jacket and belongings are hanging on that empty chair?! Obviously I'm waiting for him to return so we can leave! I explained to her I'm waiting for him to come back from the restroom so we can leave together but I don't know why I even have to explain that to her?! To put fuel on fire, when we left the restaurant, we saw multiple empty tables in the front section of the restaurant and a line with 4 people waiting! How is that a long line up?! If you can, I would avoid this restaurant at all cost. They give ramen restaurants a bad name with their poor food quality and rude service. There are so many other reputable ramen joints within 5 min walk from...

There was a short line of people when we passed so we checked TripAdvisor and it has good rating so we decided to to give it a try. Japanese in Paris, you say? I've had great Japanese in SF so why not Paris. But no, this is not one of those places.
The experience and ambience are pretty legit with the small dining areas. The place is run by Japanese and they do cook it in front of you.
The speed was not as fast as what I've experienced in Japan. The ramen is decent. I had the rouge. Flavor of broth is good. The rain and cold definitely make it much better. Noodle is decent. The egg is no good. And the chashu is a bit overcooked and tough. I'm a bit of a "traditionalist" when it comes to texture. You can be creative on flavors but you gotta get it right on textures. Overcooked meat is never good for anything, in my opinion. And the egg is such a big part of ramen. You've gotta get it right.
So decent ramen. Nothing to write home about. Near authentic experience. If you just need to have the novel experience of having ramen in Paris and you've got time to kill. Go for it. Otherwise, save it for some...
