I came in here being very familiar with the Ippudo in New York. The one in New York has lines out the door and for good reason. I wished to compare. For starters, I didn't see anyone Japanese serving. A little worrisome but not enough to walk away. The decoration and ambiance are absolute zeros. I asked if they had shishito peppers and was pointed to a bottle of hot sauce. Then I was sent a second waitress. I asked if they had WiFi. To make a long story short, it wasn't working. I ordered the veggie ramen which I expected to simply be non-pork based ramen and it was. But the noodles they use for their veggie ramen were not the usual noodles. I found the noodles and the flavors in the bowl to be disappointing. What on earth are chickpeas doing in a bowl of ramen. Needless to say but I received no warning of the noddle switch. Note the flat noodle in the picture. Defeated the whole purpose of me crossing half way across Paris. When I pointed out my disappointment, all I reveived was a sorry and a you're stuck with what you ordered look. That's one of the times when being in France with their total disregard for customer satisfaction leaves you bewildered at best and boiling mad at worst. For the cost of a bowl of veggie noodles which can't be more than three euro, they not only lose me forever but also anyone I know. Particularly not very business-savvy behavior especially from a chain restaurant. I quickly ordered my check before it got any worse.

Eh. I set my expectations too high. In comparison to their NYC location, their Paris ramen was a slight disappointment. (Definitely better ramen around Paris!)

I enjoyed the casual vibe here, than their fancy-pantsy NYC spot. Great for a quick bowl of inexpensive ramen on a cold day.

We didn't have to wait! It's their larger location. And, it did help that we got there at 10pm.

I love that they stay open late! I think they stop serving around 12, midnight. Tough to find a late night place that will hit the spot for something tasty and warm.

Minus star as their broth had an extremely strong aftertaste of fish. That was a surprise! The aftertaste lingered with me all through the night đŸ˜©

For the ramen, I chose the Akamaru (modern) Special! Of course because it had the garlic oil... and my greedy stomach wanted the two additional pieces of porky chashu... in addition to the marinated egg, nori, mushrooms.

Their tuna starter, Zuka-Maguro was a bust 😡 more like a Zika virus... wasn't fresh and I was apprehensive about finishing it! 😳

I would come again, as I want to try their hiraga pork buns!😍 I was envious of the other table... gobbling their...
