Ismaïl — Restaurant in Paris

Mediocre food and slow service.

Ordered through uber eats at 9. Order was supposed to be ready by 9:40. Uber sent a notification that the order is likely ready upon which I went to pick it up. The restaurant had not even started on preparation of my order by that time. They changed their status on app to be preparing order. I was told the food would be ready in 10mins. It still took more than 20mins after letting the server know about my pickup initially. The entrees arrived at 9:50 and it was missing bread. The owner even though noticed that people were waiting for their orders was chilling outside the restaurant on his phone on a bike. No regard to the people waiting for their orders.

Finally received my order at 10. I ordered a biryani, paneer butter masala, garlic naan and a. dal.

Food is mediocre. They claim to be mix of indian(Mumbai specifically called out on menu) and Mediterranean. Indian definitely not. I didnt try their mediterranean side of things so not sure. They dont know how to make basic curry and dal. The only thing good in my takeaway was the pickle which is...

Food tasted good but the tea was awful (green tea should not be bitter!)...just go with the mango lassi. The vegetarian dishes were good, but be aware that the portions aren't that big.

The prices are more expensive but I suppose that is just the norm in such a district. If you're looking for a restaurant to eat at 18:00, this restaurant is probably not the right choice, because we were only able to order at 18:45, despite having arrived at around 18:15 (we were the first guests, no one else had come in the meantime!).

In the picture below you will see the okra vegan dish and also the rice (be aware that the rice is vegetarian and not vegan).

The person who joined me for dinner really enjoyed the cheese naan (cheese inside a naan) so if you're someone who enjoys cheese, maybe order that. We spend around 65€ for two people (expect 30€ per person). Sadly this restaurant does not provide English menus.

I wouldn't come here again because of the waiting time but if you're interested in the Lebanese Indian cuisine mix, then you should give this...

Nous avons apprécié notre moment chez Ismaïl. Deco : Très soigné jusqu'au moindre détail, le verre à eau gravé Ismaïl, les decos murales, etc. C'était un beau cadre pour dîner. Service : Efficace et sympathique. Nous avons tout d'abord été servi par un gars super sympa, qui nous a proposé des recommandations pertinentes, qui n'a pas hésité à ouvrir un bocal neuf de pickles de mangue pour qu'on puisse tester avec nos naan. Il avait un ton aussi très accueillant. Les autres serveurs étaient souriants et accueillants également, malgré l'affluence. Cuisine : nous avons été franchement transporté. Adeptes de la cuisine libanaise et indienne, nous sommes exigeants, surtout quand il y a ce genre de fusion. Et bien nous avons apprécié notre diner et les choix que nous avons fait. C'était plus raffiné que dans les restos que nous avons l'habitude de faire, que ce soit visuellement ou culinairement. Le lassi à la fleur d'oranger n'était pas trop sucré ni trop chargé en fleur d'oranger. Les naans etaient fins et pas grossièrement rempli au cheddar et piment (pour le chili naan), c'était subtil le piment. La combinaison du houmous butterchicken était étonnante mais se mariaient bien. Pour le plat du chef avec une sauce coriandre pistache et proteine (poulet et agneau pour nous), c'était bon, original mais ce qui nous a le plus surpris c'est le riz aux céréales qui l'accompagnait, un mélange de texture qui matchait parfaitement au plat. Coté dessert, la glace à la pistache et fleur d'oranger était vraiment maison. Une texture un peu comme un sorbet, la fleur d'oranger était bien dosé mais un peu trop de pistache à mon goût, trop de croquant pour notre palais. Et je ne vous parle même pas des quantités généreuse. Heureusement qu'il existe des doggy bag, ja n'ai pas pu finir mon plat. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter pour tester...
