We were exploring the Montmartre neighborhood in the late afternoon, so we decided to stay in the area for dinner too. I had this spot bookmarked (can’t remember why), so we stopped in (without reservations) on a 6 pm on a Monday when it opened. They were still setting up, but two more tables were seated right after us.
We shared the baked egg with duck foie gras and it was amazing. It’s rich but not overly so. It’s the perfect appetizer to share but I could have also eat one by myself. And at €8, what a steal! For my entree, I had
The menu is small, which is nice because that means they try to perfect a few dishes. For my entree, I had the breaded veal, which is served with a side salad and mashed potatoes. It really matters which direction you slice the veal because one way makes its super chewy. Luckily, I figured out the right direction and it was good - especially with the gravy it came with. The mashed potatoes were nice and buttery. Hubby had the tartiflette topped with smoked duck breast, which also came with a side salad. The tartiflette is kind of heavy for one person but the smoked duck breast was really good. The duck confit shepherd’s pie sounded great too but I had already eaten quite a few duck confits on the trip, so I wanted to try something different. For dessert, we shared the creme brûlée, which was excellent. Not too sweet and the perfect end to a great meal.
Highly recommend if you’re in the Montmartre...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this place because of the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, we haven’t been more disappointed with the food. Service was very good, in fact the were very accommodating when we came in 2 hours before our 9pm reservation. We were so tired and hungry after our Montmartre tour which ended at 7pm that we decided to try if they can seat us. There were a couple of empty tables so they let us in. Our starter of baked egg with foie gras was delicious! We wiped clean that small ramekin with the bread. We thought that if the starter was this good, surely the entrees should be outstanding too, right?! We couldn’t have been more wrong! I’ve ordered the beef with pepper sauce and the wife ordered the veal after getting that recommendation from the server that the veal is tender, more so than the pork we were thinking of getting. Orders came in but my beef was tough overdone medium instead of the medium rare I’ve ordered. So they offered to replace it. Btw, the veal was surprisingly tough too. After an agonizing wait, I got to slice into the beef and it looked like a perfect medium rare. However, as hungry as I was, I just couldn’t get over the tough piece of meat. We were so disappointed we both didn’t...
Read moreI found this restaurant after a quick research on the internet and I have to say that it really lived up to my expectations: the reviews were excellent and everyone praised its delicious French dishes. It is situated in Montmartre, a few minutes away from Place di Tertre. The place is very small and typical of an authentic French restaurant, so there are few tiny tables which are placed one next to the other— it gets easily crowded so I suggest that you book a table in advance. The personnel is really welcoming and speak fluent English (for those who are not familiar with French). Also the menu is available in English. Speaking of it, it offers various dishes, which include the exquisite l’œuf cocotte de foie gras and duck specialities. I tried a duck fillet with raspberry sauce, which was divine. To conclude, I highly recommend this restaurant as it is perfect for a full immersion in the prestigious French cuisine without...
