What a dreadful place! Obnoxious french waitresses and bad food. We were visiting Paris from London and picked this place on the back of a video we saw which depicted this restaurant as serving some wonderful traditional french cuisine. Firstly we had to wait 20 minutes to be sited outside (we had booked at table), although there seemed to be tables available. As they set the table, they brought a pot of garlic which had clearly been siting on the tables for the best part of the day (it was 32 degrees in Paris that day) and looked very dry and a pot of mustard with a bit of skin on it, which wasn't the best start. When we pointed this out, the waitress rolled her eyes at the back of her head. Obviously we were being difficult... When we tried to order some wine the waitress was unable to make any recommendation as she "didn't know much about wine". We asked a second waitress who didn't seem any more clued up. We ended up asking the owner/manager who told us he would come back with something he though would be great, however, he totally forgot about us and proceeded to sit down with some of the patrons and shared a glass of wine with them. When the food finally arrived, one of the steaks we ordered was burnt on one side and carefully camouflaged on, what seemed to be a slice of bread it was sitting on. The texture of the "famous" aligot (mash potatoes) was closer to candle wax than potatoes and very sickly. We, obviously told the owner we weren't happy and he took the steak off the final bill and offered us a replacement dish which we declined as we just wanted to leave. We were served a free desert and received apologies but the overall experience was totally ruined. This was definitely way below what we anticipated and unforgivable for a restaurant that charges those kind of prices. Avoid...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at "l'Auberge Aveyronnaise" and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From start to finish, the experience was simply unforgettable.
The food was absolutely delicious, with the dishes expertly prepared and served. The aligot, in particular, was a standout and was cooked to perfection. It was clear that the kitchen takes great pride in its work and that each dish is made with the utmost care and attention to detail.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was also a highlight. The decor and ambiance were authentic to the region of l'Aveyron, which added to the overall experience. It was as if we were transported to a little corner of France, surrounded by the sights and sounds of this beautiful region.
The reception was warm and welcoming, with the staff making us feel at home from the moment we stepped through the door. They were always on hand to answer any questions we had and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied with our experience.
The service was also excellent. The waitstaff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made excellent recommendations regarding wine. Their warm and friendly demeanor added to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and made our dining experience all the more enjoyable.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend "l'Auberge Aveyronnaise" to anyone looking for an authentic dining experience in the heart of l'Aveyron. The food, the atmosphere, the service, and the ambiance were all top-notch, and I will definitely be returning again...
Read moreFoie gras poéle - The Foie gras was satisfying. Nicely pan seared. Three hazelnut soup was interesting but I felt it was overwhelmingly salty.
Lamb shoulder - The lamb was tender, but the highlight was the aligot potatoes. It was a bit of a presentation but they could emphasize that a little bit cause it's an attraction! The aligot potatoes were cool but just ok. Taste too much cheese than potatoes. May be more cream or less cheese will make the taste better. Nonetheless, it was not bad at all.
Veal with mushroom sauce - mistake we made was ordered well done worrying that pink will be too rare. It was dry and not that tender. But it was our bad decision. The mushroom sauce was great in fact, the sauce was great with the aligot potatoes.
Duck confit - The duck leg itself was tender as usual, only thing I would improve is to have a sauce to go with it. The meat was not dry but not juicy enough plus the meat lack flavor. A sauce...
