You'd think that a Wine Bar would be easy to find in Paris, but not so. Every place serves wine, so I guess they think that fits the bill. But this place is the genuine article and fits the bill. A small place that has vintage Vinyl spinning (David Bowies Herosand the Cure) and Charcuterie, tartines and other small plates that make it the perfect spot to sit and sip some Vin. The waiter (manager? Owner? Lord of the Manor) was a soft spoken guy that knew his wines and then some. Describe what you like in a wine and he comes up with what you want. Or pick from the open bottles that they have about and experiment. By the bottle or the glass, they'll open one. It seems to be a two person show, one in the kitchen and one in the front. Don't feel ignored if you have to flag him down, the guy is rushing about trying to cover his bases. The wine collection there is substantial, so you'll have a chore deciding. Read moreOf the five nights I was in Paris, I came to Le 5eme Cru three times. If you love wine then this is the place for you. There are some really great bottles tucked away here and the prices are outrageously good for some old Bordeaux’s and other great selections. There is great wine here for all budgets. The food was hearty and delicious. It’s very cosy, especially in the evening. The vibe was special both when quiet and when full of locals. My loyalty card has three stamps and I’m halfway to a free bottle. I hesitate to recommend for fear it’d be harder to get a table in future but I’d come back to Paris just...
Read moreLoved this cosy very Parisian wine place.
It offers superb hospitality, especially if you start off speaking in limited French, only to find that the hosts can actually speak English just fine 🤣 (Oh it's so many moons ago when I visited France and they only would converse in French!).
The place embodies the essence of a wine (bar?) with loads of bottles lining the walls and the lovely knowledgeable host asking for your preference to provide you with your perfect choice of wine. They also serve delicious little food dishes that will ensure you don't get completely inebriated and unruly with your intake of many bottle of delicious wine. The place also offers a limited selection of food and I had a lovely dish of fish gratin. It was yummy - I highly recommend giving...
