I went to the jam session that goes from 12:00 midnight to 4 am on Saturday night, 22/1/2022. The servers are friendly, drinks are strong , sitting area was comfortable. Now about the music. After midnight they have volunteering musicians, no cover charge for music, just buy one drink. I expected to hear different pianists, different bassists, different drummers every 2-3 songs as i am sure there were many musicians at the venue who came to play. But what i heard was the same fat, old man pianist playing the same identical chords for every song for at least two hours. Repetitive, uncreative, and frankly, boring to tears. Bassist was solid. The first drummer, however, was the most musical man on stage. He was creative with triplets, with sliding rhythms, and had a very exciting way of playing the drums, engaging every aspect of his instrument to make music. Second drummer was not as inspiring. There were two sax players, one baritone and another was alto. They were all right. I wish i could hear their double solos. The most mundane performer was the pianist of the night. Piano is a versatile instrument, and under fingers of a talented pianist can sound like an orchestra, it is a sonorous instrument- the chubby little man played the piano in the most plain, boring and repetitive manner. People like him make jazz unpalatable for many people. How can someone hogging the piano for two hours sound so repetitive? Lack of imagination and passion are so apparent. I wish the club had a choice of other pianists, and not being stuck with one little...
Read moreAttended the 10pm performance by Bria Skonberg on a Wednesday night in May. Our first time at this jazz club and experiencing nightlife in this neighborhood. The entire neighborhood was filled with energy - cafés and bars spilling out into the street with revelers of all ages, nationalities and races. The club is located in the center of this action and dramatically adorned with large lighted retro signage. Inside the very intimate club pre-performance was the hum of a very active jazz cocktail lounge. Talking, laughing cocktail shaker rumbling, orders being taken in multiple languages. Very fun, welcoming, highly professional and responsive team of servers offering excellent drink suggestions and laughs. Great cocktails and wine list. Sound quality is excellent. Seating is comfortably spaced and affords plenty of tabletop area for drinks. The performance by Bria and her NYC based band was simply phenomenal including exceptional long passionate solos by the young bassist as well as the very talented and charismatic drummer and intense skilled pianist expertly commanding a very high quality Yamaha grand. Wonderful show that filled to a comfortably packed level with no interruptions in the service. Our drinks were always full. Cocktails were creative and beautifully presented. The crowd was applauding the solos as the energy level continually grew right through to the encore. The streets were even more lively and full as we left near midnight with a smile from this fabulous...

We were served stale, flavorless bread in France. Need I say more?
The server in the gray, plaid pants behaved absolutely atrociously towards my husband and I. One of the other servers offered to move us to a table closer to the stage. Once again, it was OFFERED to us. We didn’t request it. Grey Pants walked over to us and began screaming/berating us like we were breaking the law because he needed the table for another couple. Needless to say, we didn’t fly across the Atlantic and pay for overpriced bad bread to be disrespected by an unstable waiter in tacky pants who clearly isn’t aware that he works in the service industry. Despite his behavior, we graciously moved back to our original places.
I then proceeded to watch Gray Pants behave rudely towards several other customers. He was snarky towards a group of young men who asked for water. He snatched away a woman’s drink before she was done drinking it and she had to call him back.
I later needed to squeeze past him to get to another part of the club… I said “excusez” in a normal volume/tone of voice. Gray Pants had the nerve to whip around and tell me to “calm down” for simply excusing myself as I walked by. This was exceptionally ironic considering the spectacle he caused over our table earlier.
@Duc des Lombards management: Please fire this feral rat before he drives away all of your customers. He is the stereotype of the “French rude server”...
