How to get your workout and a day of sightseeing in with one hour: Have you ever attempted a sightseeing run while traveling? This has become our go-to way to explore major cities, particularly following this early morning jog along the Seine River. Locations we saw within just 1 hour! If we can give 10 stars, we would. Our neighbor told us their Paris experience a few years back about this special bistro that served the best hot chocolate they ever had next to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. We found it, and it was a scenic, romantic, relaxing place with great food and desserts. We came here for the hot chocolate but ordered steak frits (fillet au poivre or steak with pepper sauce), mint tea, ice cream with thin almond cookie and the hot chocolate The steak was cooked to perfection in the most luscious pepper sauce we ever had. Fries were great, too. They provided gourmet salt for those who wanted more seasoning to the food. The mint tea was refreshingly satisfying. The pièces de résistance were the hot chocolate and the ice cream. It was deconstructed hot chocolate where you mix 70% cacao hot chocolate sauce and piping hot milk to your liking. It was sweet and thick. If that wasn't enough, there was a meringe to go with it. We went with lemon, black currant, and raspberry sorbet. All of them were intensely fruity and refreshing. Love our server and went made us feel like we were their only customers. Will be back if we return to Paris.

This is the epitome of a well-run, well-stocked café which caters to tourists (mainly) and locals but doesn’t break a sweat when there are crowds of clients. The servers are on point, even when busy. They take and remember a party’s orders and deliver food and drink quickly, without becoming excessively involved with each table. C’est très français. This is also a great place for kids because of the broad and protected outdoor space (not much car traffic) and especially because of the excellent ice cream counter — also managed by the café. One tip: if you are seated, you can go look at the ice cream flavors in the refrigerator case but don’t place an order there at the counter. After deciding what you would like, your server will take your order and will bring you the ice cream. If, however, you wish to take the ice cream to go — for a stroll along the lower banks of the Seine (highly advised), then do order from the counter but don’t sit down with your cup or cone. The servers will not allow this ordering to go but eating at the café tables.

My recent visit here left me highly disappointed. First and foremost, the prices were completely unjustifiable. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that they were charging a whopping $7.5 for a simple Coke. This is an exorbitant price for a basic beverage, and it left a bitter taste in my mouth before I even took my first sip.

To make matters worse, the service was abysmal. The waiter displayed a remarkable level of rudeness throughout my entire meal. Not only did they reject a dish I wanted without providing any valid explanation, but they also constantly pressured us to order even when we clearly expressed that we needed more time. Their impatience was both unprofessional and unwelcoming, making our dining experience feel rushed and uncomfortable.

It's disheartening to encounter such poor customer service and an evident lack of regard for the patrons. I expected better treatment and a more enjoyable dining experience considering the prices they were charging. Unfortunately, the combination of exorbitant prices, rude staff, and pushy service has left me with no choice but to advise others to steer clear here. There are plenty of other establishments in the area that offer better value for your money and treat their customers...

The only reason to go to this restaurant is to enjoy some (overpriced) Berthillon ice cream while gazing at the scaffolding around Notre Dame, as it undergoes repairs following the devastating 2019 fire. We, however, went for cocktails. Do not do this. We were served an Aperol Spritz that was 85% sparkling water (no prosecco that any of us could discern), and just enough Aperol to turn the drink a miserly orange. We decided to order a bottle of wine instead, choosing a banal rosé we'd often ordered at another restaurant, but here it was 50 euros - almost double the price. I asked the hostess about it. She kindly explained that "restauant wine costs more than wine in shops". I replied that, as adults and longtime Paris residents, we were familiar with the concept, but that their price was still quite the hefty markup. "Well, here, you are paying for the view", she sniffed. We declined and left for a less spectacular view at another, far better restaurant a short walk away. PS: I gave 1 star for the "food" because the salty snacks served with the drinks were stale and tasted of the fingers of a...
