Le Paradiso Restaurant & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Paris

Oh boy, where to start here...

For context, this is a small restaurant where you are asked to seat yourself. One competent server could cover every table even on a busy night. When we were here, there were two working.

We arrived around 7 and after seating ourselves on the (broken and wobbly) round table, were then ignored for about 10 minutes.

Then we got menus. No water, no offer for drinks, just menus.

We were not able to order (or offered water or anything else) for about half an hour. Again, very small restaurant. Not a delivery hot spot either. Just embarrassingly absent service.

We finally ordered, pizzas and appetizers, finally got our water and drinks, and settled in for our second wait. And wait we did. At this point it was still kind of funny, awful service funny story, maybe the food is good, if not whatever.

But we kept waiting. Eventually we pulled out some baguettes we bought earlier in town for a snack. Still nothing. The table behind us finally got some attention after yelling out they were ready to order. On his way back the server asked if we had ordered. Oh boy.

We finished our baguettes.

Finally our pizzas came. At this point it was over an hour. The comedy had worn off, everyone was tired and grumpy. Traditionally I believe appetizers are served before entrees. I'm neither European nor Italian, maybe pizzas are different (I doubt it), but the appetizers we had ordered were nowhere to be seen.

The cherry on top? The pizzas were lukewarm and missing ingredients. To be specific, missing mozzarella, in any form. The tomato sauce was sparse enough it could qualify as missing as well, frankly.

We were sure it was a mistake.

I asked the next table (who unsurprisingly still had their menus despite being there quite a while) if I could borrow theirs, just to confirm we weren't being ignorant, or maybe had forgotten the details of what we ordered. No, right there plain as day on the menu, "mozzarella".

We walked out. I was the last one out in my group and as I was leaving the server tried to tell me the pizzas we had ordered were not supposed to have cheese on them. Again, not European or Italian, but I'll confidently say mozzarella is generally considered a cheese.

The whole experience honestly felt a bit like gag in a sitcom.

Tldr short version: possibly the worst service I've experienced anywhere in terms of speed, attentiveness and just general care and neither the food nor atmosphere are carrying any weight here either. A meatball sub from the Subway 10 minutes away is closer to authentic Italian and you won't go hungry while you wait there either.

Or just go eat at any of the other hundred remotely competent restaurants in the area.

Just editing in response to the management's strange claim that we didn't actually come here. It should be contextually pretty obvious this isn't made up. Your single, large round table is unstable and the benches around it are broken. I'm also hardly in the business of writing long winded negative reviews (of restaurants in another country no less) for fun. I'm not sure why there would be a transaction record, seeing as we walked out. Why on earth would we have paid for stone cold, incorrect food after hours of waiting? It should also be pretty easy to confirm with the servers, unless you get a lot of people walking out after ordering (I suspect you do).

I'll be waiting for the supposed international defamation lawsuit. That sounds like a very productive thing for you...

Mon commentaire initial, écrit à chaud, n'était effectivement pas assez détaillé. Permettez-moi donc de l’étoffer :

Nous étions huit convives et avons commandé sept plats :

Les trois assiettes de pâtes carbonara ont été consommées par les enfants. Je n’ai pas de commentaire particulier à ce sujet.

La Calzone était particulièrement décevante, loin du niveau gustatif de celles servies dans d’autres restaurants italiens bien notés (4,6/5 sur Google, par exemple).

Le magret de canard était extrêmement dur, la cuisson mal maîtrisée, et la sauce particulièrement sucrée, déséquilibrant le plat.

Le plat de lasagnes manquait cruellement de saveurs et se rapprochait davantage d’un produit industriel que d’une préparation maison.

La pièce de viande était si dure que mon épouse n’a pas pu y toucher. Les frites qui l’accompagnaient étaient excessivement fines, évoquant davantage un produit de fast-food que de cuisine traditionnelle.

En ce qui concerne le service : La serveuse, malgré sa sympathie, semblait débordée (elle n’a pas su éditer une note et nous a confié être là depuis seulement un mois). Le gérant, probablement l’auteur de votre réponse menaçante, était quant à lui absent.

Vous invoquez dans votre réponse les articles 29 de la loi du 29 juillet 1881 sur la liberté de la presse, ainsi que l’article 226-10 du Code pénal relatif à la dénonciation calomnieuse. Permettez-moi de vous rappeler quelques points de droit :

L’intimidation que vous avez tentée par votre message est répréhensible. L’article 222-33-2 du Code pénal dispose que "le fait de harceler autrui par des propos ou comportements répétés ayant pour objet ou pour effet une dégradation des conditions de vie entraînant une altération de la santé physique ou mentale est puni de deux ans d'emprisonnement et de 30 000 euros d'amende." Votre tentative d'intimider un client pour le dissuader de donner son avis relève d'une pression inadmissible.

La conservation de données personnelles sans consentement constitue une infraction au regard du Règlement Général sur la Protection des Données (RGPD - Règlement UE 2016/679). En effet, l’article 5(1)(a) du RGPD impose que les données personnelles soient "traitées de manière licite, loyale et transparente" et ne soient collectées qu'avec un consentement explicite. Le fait de conserver mes données personnelles sans autorisation est une violation caractérisée de cette réglementation, passible de sanctions par la CNIL.

Enfin, votre menace de "transmettre ce message à [votre] avocat" pour engager des poursuites s’apparente à une tentative d'intimidation visant à dissuader un client de partager une expérience honnête. Je tiens à rappeler que l’expression d’une opinion sincère et fondée sur une expérience vécue relève du droit à la liberté d’expression, consacré par l’article 10 de la Convention européenne des droits de l’homme (CEDH).

Je précise que ce commentaire est le reflet d’une expérience partagée par quatre adultes et qu’il constitue un retour d’expérience honnête et non exagéré, comme Google me permet légitimement de le faire.

Par ailleurs, nous avons effectivement écourté notre repas face à l'expérience décevante. Nous n'avons cependant pas souhaité charger davantage la serveuse débordée avec des explications sur les raisons de notre départ anticipé. Je comprends que nous aurions dû le faire par souci de clarté et pour exprimer directement nos observations.

Je vous invite donc à revoir votre position. Plutôt que de menacer vos clients, une approche plus constructive consisterait à recueillir leurs avis pour améliorer votre...

We’re American tourists from south Florida who have been to Paris 11 times-we love the art, cafes, discos, people & food. Our first day here on this trip(we always stay at a neighborhood air B&B) we ventured out from our apartment on Isle Saint Louis & found this gem a few steps away-Le Paradiso. Attracted by its beautiful exterior, we checked out the menu in the window & wer drawn in. I am a vegan but on vacation from work & my normal diet. I was intrigued by the “Burger Italien” especially the scamorza cheese listed with its ingredients(which i had never heard of). I ordered that & my wife ordered the “Pavé de saumon grillé, crème à l’aneth, légumes frais”. She said it was the best salmon shes had in Paris. I was overwhelmed by the melt in your mouth delicious, juicy, first bite of this burger! I finished every gram of this savory mouth watering Jimmy Buffet cheese burger in Le Paradiso. The fries were perfectly crispy, fresh, & seasoned. We’re here for 9 more days & i can’t wait to sample the next item on their eclectic menu! BTW-service was friendly, inviting & superb.
