Tucked away just a short walk from the majestic Notre Dame, Crêperie île St-Louis is what I’d call a platinum mine disguised as a hole in the wall. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted not just as customers, but as family. Chef Raam and his small yet passionate team radiated warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for what turned out to be one of the most unexpectedly delightful meals of our Parisian escape.
Now let’s talk about the crepes. “Absolutely delicious” doesn’t even begin to describe them. Each bite was a soft, buttery fold of perfection, whether savory or sweet. I never thought I’d see the day when smoked salmon on a crepe would win me over, it wasn’t on my bingo card, but it quickly became a standout of the evening. The balance of flavors was exquisite, and the ingredients felt fresh and carefully chosen.
The space itself is intimate, cozy, and carries a rustic charm that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a secret known only to those lucky enough to hear about it. My wife and I were enchanted, not just by the food, but by the genuine hospitality and the atmosphere that felt more like a friend’s dining room than a restaurant in the middle of Paris.
Do note: There is a time constraint, and you’ll want to plan ahead, especially during peak hours. But let me assure you, it’s worth every minute. Crêperie île St-Louis isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a place to savor a slice of Paris with people who love what they do.
Without a doubt, we’ll be returning here on our next trip. It’s that kind of place; the one you think about long after...
Read moreCRÊPERIE ÎLE ST.-LOUIS … JE T’AIME. This delicious, welcoming crêperie is located on the lovely Île St.-Louis in the heart of Paris. Ram, the charming, friendly chef and owner, greeted us with a smile each time we visited, and we visited frequently. It was almost impossible for me to pass by on the way to our apartment without grabbing one of Ram’s creations, my favorite of which was a savory crêpe stuffed with cheese, ham, mushrooms and egg. I also devoured his dark chocolate and raspberry confiture crêpes. Unfortunately, I failed to take any pictures of the scrumptious crêpes I ordered because I gobbled each one down too quickly! Ram is a savvy business-owner and marketer, who understands customer service, and knows his way around a crêpe griddle. He trained under the owners of an Île St.-Louis crêperie who were in business for more than 20 years. When they retired, Ram opened his own crêperie – which is an absolute gem – and elevated the experience. He uses fresh, organic products in his crêpes, which are available to takeaway or to enjoy in his cozy, inviting dining area. If you’re in Paris and searching for superior, delectable crêpes, pop into Crêperie Île St.-Louis – and tell my friend Ram I said bonjour! I dream about Ram's crêpes and can't wait to...
Read moreIn a quiet corner of Paris, where cobblestone alleys catch the morning light like poetry, there lives a man who turns batter into philosophy and crêpes into epiphanies. His name is Chef Ram — but call him that and he will only smile, as if names are far too simple for a man who communes daily with butter, fire, and truth.
To eat one of Chef Ram’s crêpes is to taste balance itself. A whisper of citrus, a sigh of nutmeg, the embrace of caramel like an old friend you never knew you missed. He does not follow recipes. He listens. To the griddle. To the ingredients. To you.
“Life,” he told me once, while gently folding a crêpe with the care of a monk tending a sacred scroll, “is best understood in layers—soft, imperfect, warm.”
Do not ask for a menu. There is none. Ask instead what the day feels like, and Chef Ram will show you in flour and flame.
I have dined in Michelin-starred temples and eaten in backstreet shacks, but nothing prepared me for the quiet transcendence of his food.
Go. Find him. Follow the smell of browned butter and quiet wisdom. Eat, and you...
