This is a horrible place. A couple of days ago I went into this place and ordered some bread. The young female staff working there was only nice to locals or the one who only speaks European language. Are travelers paying different money? Anyway I paid by card and she took the card and hid behind the counter. I couldn’t see her doing the card transaction. I asked what she was doing and she didn’t answer. A minute later she stood up saying no transaction made and asking cash. I felt uncomfortable so checked my bank account and found the payment made. It was foreign dollars so the amount was different but it was printed as Grenier and the transaction time was the same as considering time difference. She said I need to pay cash or couldn’t give the bread. I came out with bare hands and needed to write an email to my bank. what a hassle! The point is why she hid with the card and asked cash right away? In general I was asked to do it again or a different card I have. AND no one should hide with someone else’s credit card!

Even Though it’s blissfully calm you’ll most likely have to stand in line for a few minutes as there’s already a couple of elderly locals waiting for them to open the doors.
You enter the bakery to the amazing and comforting smell of newly baked bread. The only dilemma is to decide whether to get a delicious prepared baguette or a succulent grilled sandwich with chèvre, walnuts and honey. Although you are fully aware that either way you will end up with a delightful morning treat.
Afterwords you walk slowly down to Place des Abbesses and take a seat on one of the benches – admiring the luscious gardens of Square Jehan-Rictus in the morning sun – and feast on your sandwich whilst the city slowly starts to come...
Read moreI was there on 4/20/2017; went there the day before, but apparently they close on Wed, who knew. Holy smokes, no wonder they are winner of the 2015 Croissant competition. Their croissant at first look is small, not so special to look at. But I went there specially for their croissant after doing some research. Theirs is the best croissant I have ever eaten. So airy, light, and absolutely delicious. Most croissants have overwhelming butter taste, not this one.
I ate 2 on my first day, and a whole bunch more the next day. Get there early in the morning, while they are warm, oh my gosh, it's ridiculous. My only issue with boulangeries in Paris is that they don't serve coffee and there is no place to sit, so you have to go elsewhere to...
