Le Petit Pontoise — Restaurant in Paris

I visited the restaurant after seeing high reviews on Michelin Guide and Trip Advisor.

The food was good overall(steak was slightly burnt), but after the service I received, I do not ever want to go again nor recommend this place.

However, I guess if you're caucasian, it would be fine for you to go. Out of 4 tables, we were the only Asian in the restaurant. We dined a total of an hour and a half (including 30 minutes the time it took our food to come out).

One of the female worker who also looked asian asked us if we were finished with our food 4 times in a span of 1 hour. We were not finished with our meal, and there was even food on the table. Despite this, the worker consistently asked whether we were finished with our food.

I watched the service on the other tables, but it seems that the worker only asked our table. Also, she was very unfriendly when serving our food, almost as if she was throwing the food the table. However, she did not act this way to other tables.

The waitress was rude and immature.

It was very disappointing and offensive that we received different treatment despite paying the same price for our food.

Receiving discrimination and poor service from your restaurant worker was very disappointing and a bad experience.

미슐랭가이드, 트립어드바이점의 높은 평가를 보고 방문했습니다. 음식은 전반적으로 괜찮았지만, (아. 스테이크는 살짝 타서 탄맛이 좀 났습니다.) 서비스에 매우 실망스러웠고 다시는 가고싶지 않고 추천하고 싶지 않습니다. 단, 이 글을 읽고 있는 당신이 백인이라면 가셔도 괜찮겠네요. 총 4테이블의 손님 중 저희 테이블만 유일한 아시아인이였습니다. 저희는 식사를 총 1시간 30분동안 했습니다. (음식나오는 시간 30분 포함) 직원 중 아시아계열 여성직원은 1시간동안 다먹었냐(finish?)를 4번이나 물어보았습니다. 식사를 마치지도 않았고 테이블에 음식이 있었음에도 finish를 물어보았습니다.

다른 테이블을 지켜보았지만 저희 테이블에만 묻더군요. 무뚝뚝하고 음식을 집어던지듯 내려놓는 태도도 저희 테이블에서만 그랬습니다.

그 직원은 정말 무례하고 미성숙했습니다.

똑같이 돈주고 사먹는 건데 다른 테이블과 동일하지 못한 서비스를 받는 것이 너무 불쾌했습니다.

같은 동양인에게 인종차별을 받는 느낌이 너무 커서 정말 기분 나빴고, 다시는...

TLDR: fly across the world to eat at this restaurant!

The long version: My boyfriend and I came to Paris to celebrate our anniversary and ended up having dinner at LPP two nights in a row. Our waitress Pauline is probably the best waitress I’ve ever had. All of my dishes I tried are dishes I will never order again until I come back to this restaurant because I have found the only version I ever want to eat. The duck and potatoes were the epitome of “melt in your mouth”. The dark chocolate molten cake was rich, not sweet, and perfectly crisp, soft, and gooey, every single cake texture in one bite. The sweetbreads were crisp, soft, and perfect for a first timer (but warn them they will never get anything better). The level of detail in the plates, ambiance, and menu are impeccable. The rule of everyone hanging coats on a communal coat rack, and waitstaff as kind as in Kansas but with that French flair puts the cherry on top of this restaurant. When I dream of a French restaurant, this is what I am going to dream of. I am counting down the minutes until I return. (Bonus: We asked to buy THE WATER PITCHER because we loved this restaurant so much- they said they won’t allow it but a lot...

Go to this restaurant!!! But make sure you make a reservation as it is a small restaurant and always packed, so not to be disappointed. The service was fantastic, we were kindly greeted and given time to look at the menu in which they happily explained and gave their advice. We ordered the Snails, Frog Legs, Duck and Beef Entrocete steak.

It was my first time eating snails and it was amazing. The sauce was something to remember and there was not a drop left as i wanted to lick the.bowl (which we did with bread and not our tongues :) ) Make sure to order this dish as you will never forget it.

All the other dishes we had were very good and generous serving sizes.

The wine was beautiful, we ordered the cheapest bottle but it went perfect with our meal.

Our baugette baskets were refilled without even asking, which as a nice surprise (the bread was amazing!!!)

If you are around the Latin Quarter or near Notre Dame do yourself a favour and make the short walk to this restaurant.

Its one of those restaurants in which you look back on and always will remember... and thats why on our last night we went back again :)
