We were 3 pax and went in around 1130am to kill some time for half an hour before our tour starts, but was forced to order a main course EACH even though we mentioned we are only here for awhile and should leave before the lunch crowd. Ordering 3 sides, 1 main + 2 sides, 3 desserts or any other combination was not allowed. Obviously, we cannot finish 3 mains in 15-20 minutes. Tried negotiating again to no avail.
We decided to head to the toilet real quick before leaving but was forced to pay 1 euro per pax for using it. Tossed a quick 2 euro coin and left angrily. Mind you - all this happened in a span of 15-20 minutes anyway, there was no crowd whatsoever when we left.
Cannot comment on the food since we were not allowed to order it, but the service is absolutely terrible and I wouldn't go back even if it has 5 stars for food. The tables are also really cramped and I could barely squeeze into my seat.
Perhaps this is the way French culture is - but it's definitely not tourist friendly and did not give a good impression at all on Paris. A very far cry from our other wonderful experiences in other Parisien cafes so far. If you don't want to be friendly to tourists, don't open your cafe near a touristy area just to charge a premium price without...
Read moreThe food at Le Preles was amazing. We have been in Paris for over 3 days and have eaten at different restaurants for each meal and this was by far the best. Most places in Paris (especially by tourist attractions) are tourist traps that try to cater to foreigners to try and lure them in. This place is a little off the beaten path but very authentic. They have only a handful of main dishes but they have perfected every one of them. This was also the first place that we as Americans felt welcomed as more than a paycheck. They were very nice and were not disappointed that we couldn't speak French. Lawrence one of the family members that owns the restaurant came and made sure that everything was perfect. We thanked him and asked a simple question about where we were going next. He kindly sat down with us for about 20-30 minutes giving us directions, recommending things to do and not to do, and giving us a brief tour of the city on our map. One of the best eating experiences as well as best service not only in this city but in any city I have ever been. Thank you Lawrence...
Read moreSad and heart broken to see Lawrence go. I visited in early October to find the place completely renovated. It looked beautiful, the food was amazing, and staff was friendly and helpful however it still needed Lawrence to complete the experience. As a world traveller, I have eaten at many great places. Les Presles was by far my favorite restaurant all due to welcoming atmosphere created the incredible food and owner, Lawrence. Whenever I am in Paris, visiting Les Presles has always been a mandatory “to do” item. I have visited about 12-14 times and have learned to just order the plate of the day. It has never failed. I have never once added the slightest grain of salt or pepper-the food was simply perfect. After each meal, I sat outside to enjoy the chocolate mousse for desert accompanied with a cigar for hours at a time. Thank you for the great dishes and best of luck Lawrence, take care. I strongly encourage anyone to visit Les Presles now as the new management works hard to keep the same friendly and atmosphere...
