To put a premise, ramen is my fav food in the entire world as a Japanese and it’s my first time writing a food review because of how shocked I was. It was also the first time I couldn’t finish a bowl because of how bad it was.
The broth was thick, with no richness or depth. Just pure fat and oil swimming on top. The noodles too thick for the soup’s thickness, it was tough to continue, with fat clinging onto every bite. The chaashuu (pork) was bland and flavorless and texture was meh. It’s supposed to be marinated w/ soy sauce + sake + mirin and others. There was also no egg, a signature of a ramen bowl. The best part of the dish was the bean sprouts and seaweed, which is sad to say.
For a €15 bowl of ramen (plus €4 for kaedama, extra noodles), you would expect a decent bowl to be able to at least finish. The rating of this place seems to be the highest in the region, which speaks volumes of the standard accepted and celebrated here in Paris but for me, it was the worst I’ve ever had. Maybe when it first opened, it was really good and now it’s living off of hype w/ drop in quality, as is many restos elsewhere.
Also PS. Their sendai ramen and miso pork ramen is identical, except for extra not-crispy not-flavorful full-fat minced pork added on top. Why do I know this? Because they messed up the order and told me it’s the same thing so eat it. Also hair in water, which I usually don’t care but stacked w others, it’s worth noting.
Chef is Japanese though, he probably knows best it’s really poor ramen but as long as non-Japanese people flow in and pay, I guess why would he care. The restaurant had no Japanese person eating aside from me and I’m not surprised.
I don’t even live in Japan anymore, so I was looking forward to some decent ramen in awhile. Did not expect a bowl i wouldn’t be able to finish. I make better instant ramen at home. Cute...
Read moreNo offense to the people of this place but this is by far the worst ramen I have ever had. They have do not have much options in the menu, the ramen is base is filled with eggs, very thick and very hard to drink. Their only option which is the pork is literally 3 pieces of thin pieces that taste like paper. The gyozas could’ve been 6 pieces which makes sense to share instead of 5.
This is the only place i went to that does not give an egg with the ramen instead you have to pay and get it as an extra which also does not make sense for paying 15 euros. The queue and waiting is by luck, me and my gf did not wait that much but i find that people waiting for this place is very unnecessary. I am writing this review as we decided to go home immediately as both of our stomachs are not in good shape from the oily/egg filled soup base.
The bathroom is the most horrific thing we have both ever seen. It was extremely disgusting and my gf could not even pee.
Finally, I asked for water 3 times to be able to get it in which the waiter was like “right!” as he forgot in such a small place with a small menu, there is not much to remember and for the atmosphere there is nothing to give a good rating for, its tighter than ever and there is no post food service like the waiters don’t really care after they put the food...
