I need to call out this restaurant for what was an absolutely terrible experience. On Wednesday, December 13, I made a reservation at this restaurant. However, while on the way there, my friend had an accident, and I had to deal with this urgent situation. As a result, we couldn’t make it to the restaurant, and I was unable to answer their call. Despite this, they immediately charged me 120 euros without any empathy or understanding. I will be filing a formal complaint with the consumer protection authorities because there were no specific penalty amounts mentioned when I made the reservation.
When I finally had the time to call them and explain the situation, their staff was incredibly rude and refused to provide any explanation. Frustrated, I posted a one-star review on Google. Surprisingly, the owner called me the next day (Thursday), expressed concern for my friend, and said his wife would call me the following day to resolve the issue. Thinking they were finally trying to make things right, I deleted my review.
But by Friday night, I still hadn’t heard back from them, so I called again. This time, the owner was more rude, dismissive, and even shouted at me, accusing me of making excuses. I was absolutely appalled. At this point, I told them not to contact me again—only people with no decency or respect would assume the worst of others in such a situation.
This entire experience has been infuriating. I will be formally filing a complaint with the relevant government authorities. Avoid this restaurant at all costs—they clearly prioritize money over basic human decency and respect for...
Read moreThe worst Mexican dining experience I have ever had in my life (I've tried Mexican restaurants in Mexico, Canada, USA, UK, Netherlands, Spain, Italy). I actually called earlier to check if they can move the reservation; the server responded rudely and hung up on the phone. We decided to show up a little bit early to make things easier. Right when we sit, they immediately start listing all the things they are out of. The server (older woman) greets us with hostility right away. She takes our order as if we were a nuisance. My drink order was forgotten. The ceviche comes out (tastes regular) and I asked for some limes to add to it. To which she replied, "for what?". Then asked with irritation for the limes from the kitchen. When the bill came out, turns out they charged us €4 for 1 lime. I have never been charged for limes in my entire life. As she picked up plates, she asked for us to remove our silverware as she was holding the plates. Then we asked for a fork and she said, "did you hide the other fork?"... The food came out: guacamole was decent, tacos were not good I did not finish my order. Enchiladas were good! The flan was terrible, the tres leches tasted like 1 leche.
It is a shame because the aesthetic of the restaurant is really warm and inviting, plus the manager-looking man was polite.
The worst dining experience I have ever...
Read moreThe food and drinks at Mex'iik are not to be faulted, and we very much enjoyed the guacamole and ceviche starters, and our tacos (especially the barbacoa). There were, though, plenty of problems in other areas. The service however was spotty, as we had to ask for water three separate times. Also, despite ordering and receiving our drinks during the "Happy Hour", we were charged 11€ for our drinks and not the HH price of 7€. I enquired about the charge when I received the bill, only to be told that because they had a mariachi band that night it was considered a 'Holiday' and thus Happy Hour prices did not apply. Finally, Mex'iik has adopted the American tipping scheme, with a suggested tipping percentage presented at the time of settling the bill that has the effect of shaming the paying customer into dropping even more money. This is unsettling, as the custom in France has long been to leave coins on the table "pour boire", to show appreciation, and because there is already a service charge included in the final bill. We will likely return to Mex'iik, but it will be forewarned -- the next time I will confirm the Happy Hour pricing before ordering drinks, as 11€ is simply too much for what arrives -- and with...
