Some of best service I've ever had in a restaurant happened tonight.
I dined by myself and there was never a single raised eyebrow, and in fact they poured me some additional wine because they saw me enjoying it so much with my food! I ordered the Decouvertes, the prix fixe with three courses and wine for 80 euro. But it was more than just the three courses - I think, with the amuse Bouche, the pre-first course course (I don't know what one calls that) and the extra dessert after my dessert, I had six courses in total before my cheese plate! I stopped the menu before the dessert and added in a glass of Bordeaux and the cheese plate. Oh my god. Amazing. The blue cheese especially gave me goosebumps. After they started up the prix fixe menu again for me, as a result of my add of the cheese, the planned dessert didn't work anymore (too fruity after the richness of the cheese - it felt flat.) The head waiter came out and talked with me and completely understood. They gave me the chocolate plate instead without demur, in fact apologizing as if they had made the mistake rather than I missing up the chef's original design. The staff was extreme patient with a diner who was not familiar with fine dining and answered all her (extensive! Like, 15 minutes worth!) questions with patience (way more than I could have had!!) The chef came out and met all the diners and wished them good evening! And also came out and talked directly with the difficult client who was sitting right next to me.
I've dined in 1 & 2 Michelin star restaurants and at chef's tables, and this service ranks up there with the best I've ever had. Top notch.
And the food was delicious as well. The use of a fresh herb as an extra "piquant" to most dishes especially...
Read moreAbsolutely sensational experience. Restaurant is only 1 macaroon but the chef used to have 2. I doubt he will keep only 1 macaroon much longer and expect this to be going higher. My very close friend invited me and my daughter (her goddaughter) for dinner. Again: sensational memory. Every dish was absolutely superb. We chose the 6 course menu (6 odysseys). Definitely not hungry after such a banquet! We also had each a couple of wine glasses. I chose the ott、white which was as expected 、fantastic. And had one crozes hermitage. The sommelier was very knowledgeable. Italian chap. Service was sharp all around. Olive oil was just uniquely intense. They welcomed my 8 month old daughter. Bottom line: i ended up having marvelous dreams of that evening since. Nearly tasting and enjoying the food again while sleeping. That good. I'd love to share a flaw、but I'm afraid there wasn't any to that evening. Ah yes、the room was a little warm. Outside was nice weather. But nothing uncomfortable 、mind you. Would love to visit again. That signature dish was sensational (did i use that word already?)、but so was...
Read moreGreat food knows no boundaries. I'm not sure why this restaurant is labelled Mediterranean; seems similar enough to "regular" French haute cuisine to me. Regardless of labels, we got a meal that was terrific from beginning to end, and were so stuffed we could barely walk out the door.
We ordered the signature menu, which is expensive for sure, but compared to North America where the prices don't include tax and tips, it's good for a Michelin starred establishment. The menu descriptions don't do the food justice; the sauces are so good that we kept asking for bread to soak it up (the portions would be just right if we skipped this step). The "macaroni" is actually a straight tube pasta, stuffed with a foie paste. I believe they described it as the chef's signature dish. The eponymous dessert, with airy meringue sitting on vanilla sauce, further surprising us with the sorbet stuffed inside.
Paris is full of highly competent French restaurants as can be expected. Delicious is a given; this place has crafted some unique dishes to help stand out from the crowd. We are glad we...
