Brasserie Victor Hugo — Restaurant in Paris

A complete shame !! I am so embarrassed to have invited guests here. The prices are very high for mediocre food.. Beyond this the service was catastrophic !!!!!! We were are a group.. Bill of 700€ and treated like complete trash!!! I asked for a carafe of water and told very rudely that I must order a bottle.. I said no problem. The look of disgust of the servers faces to take care of us. Everyone in our group was kind!!! No patience for English speakers who were trying their best to ask for things in French. I’ve never had worse service in Paris.. Food was late entrée and plats delivered at the same time, dirty looks and talking to us with complete disrespect. Did we really pay for this???? Please avoid. I went to this place a little worried as the reviews weren't that great. As soon as I got there I was openly welcomed by the waiter and seated, he had a quick conversation with us and showed us the breakfast menu. Despite hearing stereotypes of parisians refusing to speak english, the staff her spoke very good english! I had a cheese omlette with was like an omlette calzone stuffed with cheese, which was delicious and fresh squeeze orange juice. My friend had the croque monsieur which is just a ham and cheese toasty, but still tastey. The portions were great with salad on the side, kept us full for about 5 hours.

The place looks fine especially in the evening, so we decided to visit. We didn’t really wait for a Michelin experience, but: 1) We were seated to the worst table in the restaurant although the place being half empty 2) food was indifferent and lacking ambition despite the fancy names on the menu 3) service was also indifferent and felt like they forgot us several times. We got our main dish in over an hour despite the place was barely half full 4) price was extremely cheeky.
