I am a frequent customer of this chain and have had several "pauses-déjeuner" with my computer while eating my lunches before, but at different locations in Paris. I came to this place today to listen to a short law course around 12:56. Nothing was mentioned at the entrance or at the bar where the food is sold. However, when I started watching my lecture on my computer, which was supposed to last 45-55 minutes, one of the staff members approached me and showed me a small note, asking (not obliging) to turn off computers from 12:00 to 14:00 and to vacate the premises promptly.
Initially, the lady was rather kind. I also objected to her arguments in a polite manner. Later, she returned and again asked me to turn off my computer. (To clarify, the reason I entered this establishment and placed an order was to quickly eat and watch my online mandatory lecture at the same time, while many other customers were using their phones for extended periods or reading paper magazines.) Once again, I politely informed her that she had the right to suggest that I turn off my computer but could not compel me to do so. She walked away.
Later, around 13:50, a man approached us and again insisted that I follow these unusual rules and turn off my computer, in a loud and unpleasant manner, in front of all the other customers. I emphasise that we have paid for food and drinks before realising there was this "additional hidden rule" and that in total we stayed less than an hour at this place. The man also attempted to silence a friend of mine who spoke to him in a polite manner. I argued with him, and he insisted that he was "the owner of this place" and had the right to enforce whatever rules he wanted there. When I asked him to provide documents confirming his ownership, he eventually admitted that he was only a "Responsable." However, he still claimed he could enforce any rules and dictate how I use my computer, my property.
Overall, it was a disgusting experience for anyone who values good customer service in Paris. Even McDonald's here does not treat its loyal...
Read moreA delicious, affordable and healthy place to eat. It has yummy sandwiches that I really enjoyed eating (Dined in & Take out). Most of the times I went I was assisted by a cashier, a Dominican guy that was the nicest and the most attentive employee, he spoke Spanish and English very well so I felt so comfortable ordering and going there. He was awesome, I just didn’t get his name. He was always helpful and multilingual. I recommend this place for I got great service and then I recommend this place for the good selection of food and drinks to take back to your hotel or just sit and read a book there. The plaza is cute too and there is a garden you can go and eat your sandwich or drink your coffee in, its pretty nice, I was kinda feeding the birds lol. Go on, enjoy an affordable,...
Read moreI really like Pret à manger and have been a loyal customer for years. This shop in particular is the worst I have come across in Paris: in the morning, they open later than they officially do with customers outside waiting while you can see staff sitting inside drinking coffee and having breakfast. And when the café gets busy there is a lot of staff taking your order but only one who prepares the hot drinks and I have already been waiting for over 15 minutes because they forgot my drink while serving other customers. Also, no hello or goodbye,...
