Even when it’s a cool summer day with clouds and a light summer breeze you can always find warmth in this lovely restaurant, Le Corner Saint Germain, in Latin Quarter in Paris. The warmth will be in welcoming you by waitresses, in soft colorful artistic pillows attached to the back of a sitting bench and of course by a summery decorated menu with choices that made you salivate.
I loved the ambiance of a restaurant and was invited by a very attentive waitress to sit at the small rounded table outside. It’s nice to sit outside as you can enjoy and observe the life goes by. There are options to sit inside and enjoy either the view of a street and an artistic market kiosks on a opposing street side or the artDeco decor on the walls as well as old ceramic dishes on the walls.
With a closer look I realized that the walls of red bricks constructed as such as the windows to the outside world where the views that are showing you the “views” in a form of paintings. Very creative!
I started my meal with a cup of Earl Grey hot tea. I loved the presentation so much! I ordered escargots and beef angus. Rights tools and a steak knife were served right away.
My escargots were amazing. Soft and very tasty. It was just right amount if oil, garlic and pesto. The white baguette pieces that were served along were very fresh.
I had been wowed when I was served the angus meet on a small hot iron skillet accompanied by a very artistic metal busker with French fries and all on the blue-dive colored ceramic plate along with green salad sprinkled with olive oil. So appealing and so savory!
The steak was medium rare and was very juicy and soft. Lots of sauces in the skillet that I also enjoyed with a fresh baguette. French fries were soft and in good satisfying quantities.
I was seating outside and nevertheless the light rain started I wasn’t cold. I also liked that around 3:15 pm the decorative yellow lights were turned on and that added an extra warmth for the place.
Outside are two rows of tiny round tables. The restaurant is not divided into smoking and non-smoking areas. But even though there were people smoking in the next row of tables, I didn't smell much smoke.
To warm myself inside 😊 I ended my meal with a Mango Margarita drink. There is a full bar. The glass was icy cold but the drink was fire hot. It warmed me up nicely. Plus who can say no to a Pecan nuto - Paris-Brest! I was not expected this! I was served with a plate of beauty! Soft yet crusty two halves of a dome with a light pecan cream in between. To die for!
The place is only 2 years old and the ambiance is wonderful with a light music in the background. I will definitely return to dine here with my family before our trip ends. I strongly recommend you to try this...
Read moreThe food was great, but the service was terrible.
My girlfriend and I decided to eat here after noticing its pleasant ambiance. We were seated in the back, and our server promptly served our initial meal. My burger was good, so I decided to order another one. Everything was fine up until this point.
However, the server brought me a chicken burger instead of the regular beef burger I had ordered. This mistake was understandable, so I politely asked the server to return the chicken burger and bring me the correct order. Instead of the server, the manager came over and, in a loud and obnoxious manner, insisted on repeating my order to me as if I had made the mistake. He embarrassed us in front of the entire restaurant.
After I confirmed my order, the manager came back twice more to repeat the same thing, each time in the same rude manner. I remained calm and confirmed my order each time without matching his hostility.
Finally, a much kinder young server delivered the food. However, there was a large, odd-looking object in the cheese that smelled very strange. I asked the server about it, and he explained it was a specific type of cheese. Since I was unfamiliar with it and uncomfortable eating it, I asked if it could be replaced with cheddar cheese. The server agreed and went to the back to make the change.
Then, the manager returned and started raising his voice again. The kind server tried to calm him down, but the manager brushed him off. The manager insisted there was nothing he could do, despite the younger server already offering to replace the cheese. I even offered to pay for the new cheese, but the manager refused. After continuing to raise his voice, I motioned with my hand and said, "Calm down, sir," to which he finally relented and walked away.
The way this manager treated a customer is completely unacceptable. While the other servers were reasonable, the manager set a bad example and was very rude to a paying customer for no reason.
Overall, this experience turned out to be very unpleasant due to the manager's actions. I would not dine...
Read moreWould have been a 4 or 5 star review had it not been for the bizarre service, as the food is quite good. We sat in the almost completely empty bench seating area and my partner sat next to me. He was asked to move across from me because the table next to us was reserved, which was no problem. He just said he’d sit next to me while we ordered and would move once the food came. We scooted over to the next empty table to give ourselves room when the reserved guests arrived — the place was less than half full as it was. Then the server tells my partner he has to sit across from me because the owner said so. He was very apologetic, likely because he also understood how absolutely bizarre the demand was given 1) the place was empty and 2) my partner already said he’d move. We were offered another table at the front where we could have sat by side…but again, we had no intention of actually eating our meal side by side on those tiny tables, it was a max five minute arrangement! We just didn’t get why it was such a big deal given the place was empty.
We would have left because the vibes felt bad but we had something to get to and didn’t have time to look for a new place to eat. I don’t think it was anything against us per se as we saw another customer pretty rudely redirected from one empty table to another, though we did seem to keep attracting looks from the owner. And for the entire hour plus we were there — our mains were a bit slow to come out — the reserved table never arrived.
I wouldn’t recommend the beef burger but everything else we had was tasty, and the menu looked great overall. I would have loved to have returned and explored more of it, but with so many restaurants in this city it doesn’t make sense to return to one where the service is rude. It’s possible there was a language barrier and we’ve misinterpreted things completely but our sever spoke quite...
