Restaurant Super Huit Paris 8 — Restaurant in Paris

This was my first visit to Paris and I wanted to find a good restaurant within walking distance of my hotel. I looked through lot's of menus and reviews on th web. I ended up choosing Superhuit and I am so glad that I did. I ordered the lamb which was well cooked to the perfect doneness. It had a yummy demi-glace(?) based sauce. It was accompanied by a white bean based salad. I don't like beans. I don't eat beans, but I ate most of this salad.

The wait staff greeted me by name when I walked in. This made me feel immediately comfortable. They had previously asked for my allergies when confirming my resrvation. The chef even made a special dessert for me that was "lick the bowl" good. I had a couple of glasses of Cabernet Franc based wine, which was delicious.The music selections were great. Apparently the chef is a music lover, as am I. It seemed to be New Orleans funk night, one of my favorite music genres. The wait staff was friendly and attentive.

Super Huit, Good food, Good...

We went based on the reviews. Nice, friendly, staff, pity about the food. We had the green bean starter that is in someone else's picture. Trouble was, it was inedible. The beans were like wooden sticks impossible to eat. Left most of it. Had the lotte fish main course, and it was underdone and slightly slimy. Unfortunately presented on a grey bed of mushed aubergine-zero eye appeal and not a nice experience in the mouth. The magret de canard was super tough even though it was cooked "rose" as per their recommendation. This was served with corn from a tin mixed with balsamic vinegar- how's that for a frankenstein combo! Given the reviews , we were expecting better. Nice people, pity...

We loved the food, that 's why we came back, but the service is slow (was also the previous time we went in August) and not very attentive. The 2 times we went, the main server (the manager ?) was more interested in talking with guests he knows, than serving everyone. Too bad, the experience could be great, as the food is delicious, but I won't probably go back, as the service is not up...
