This restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide, and I came with an expectations of what the restaurant should be listed in Michelin guides, since I’ve tried many Michelin star and recommended places before. Overall, the food was a bit disappointed but the service was good — the staff were kind and accommodating.
In general, the flavors were good, but the ingredient combinations felt a bit too simple. I think the chef could be more creative with the pairings.
The first course, an onsen egg with miso sauce, was tasty and well-balanced. The second course, fish with a light sauce, was nicely cooked — tender and refreshing without being heavy. The third course, a ceviche with beet sauce, had a pleasant sweet-and-sour flavor, though the concept felt a little basic.
For the main course, I ordered the pork rib, which turned out to be almost entirely fat. I asked if it was supposed to be that fatty, and the server confirmed it was. I doubted. Also, I actually came after checking their online menu yesterday, but it seems they updated it today. Unfortunately, the pork also had a bit of a strong odor, so I couldn’t eat it. I mentioned this to the staff, and they kindly offered to replace it with chicken — which I really appreciated.
The chicken was better — juicy, with a slightly crispy skin and a sauce that complemented it well.
Their sourdough could be more fragrant, and the dessert was fine but not memorable.
Dinner was €49 for 3 courses or €59 for 4.
The experience was pleasant thanks to the service, but I hoped for more creativity and refinement...
Read moreI rarely award five stars as I feel that should be reserved for only the very best. This is the case for Soe. We happened upon the restaurant walking back to our hotel and were struck by the clean beauty of the minimalist decor. Checking out the menu and the positive reviews we booked. And so glad we did. This was the best restaurant meal I have had since traveling in Japan a year ago. Each dish tasted fresh, new, and full of flavor. We had our favorites (the trout with lemongrass sabayon!) but enjoyed each of our four courses. Tremendous value for money at (I think) 49E for the four courses. Service was warm, gracious, informative and attentive. One note of advice: if at all interested do take the sake pairings. My husband passed and lived to regret it - each sake was interesting and well aligned with the food and added greatly to my enjoyment. Overall, an...
Read moreI work nearby so I come often for lunch. Ever since I've found it while searching for a place to eat between hours of work I always come back. Not only that the food is really good (and I'm very judgmental), but also the service is professional and also the atmosphere with the lights and the flowers and the wood really makes the whole experience much enjoyable. Also as I'm very sensitive to smell, taste and sound, I'm very please that it's often quiet (unless customers are being loud but it's not the restaurant's fault). I recommand it to everyone now, and when my clients doesn't know where to lunch I always tell them to go there. One of my favorite place in Paris and I've tried a lot. A truly...
