I am a Vietnamese American. I came to US when I was 15. I am now over 40 years old. I grew up with banh mi when I was in Vietnam. I always crave for that same authentic banh mi taste I ate as a young kid.
Just less than 2 weeks ago, I visited Paris. I was walking the theater district and all sudden I craved for banh mi (All the French breads and their smell must trigger me for this crave).
I pulled up my phone and searched for banh mi around my location at that point.. This Street Banh-mi place came up.
At first It took me a circle to find this place because I couldn't find it from Google map's navigation (the location is in a triagle route somewhat).
As I arrived, I found the shop looked small from outside. When I entered, I found it was indeed cozy and very warm welcoming.
I immediately asked the girl if she spoke Vietnamese. She did. That was awesome. I could feel the authentic food was right there (I never fancy a Vietnamese restaurant that no one speaks Vietnamese at all).
I ordered the Saigon banh mi as it looked very special from the menu. It turned out it was really good. I could taste the authentic out of it. I just finished it right on the spot within 10 minutes.
I found the girl was very friendly as well. She talked more in Vietnamese while I was eating and she gave me a lot of tips for local attractions nearby.
I highly recommend this place for the authentic food, the friendliness, the atmosphere. It is one...
Read moreNot a real baguette, Frozen and warm up in the oven, thus poor quality and texture of the bread. The meat was not that great either, the "pâthé" was too greasy and lacking taste, the chicken was quite dry and also lacking some taste. Lot of vegetables compared to meat ration. Generally speaking , it's not a great banh-mi place. Especially for the price. Go to Belleville and have a better, bigger Bhan-mi for the same price. Even for Paris, the service was quite cold. Seems like we were "annoying" to ask simple questions about the menu 🤷♂️, event if the discussion lasted 3min I don't understand how this place can have such a strong notation 4.6, either people forgot to have taste buds or never really tasted a proper Bhan-mi. Anyway, walk away to avoid...
Read moreI would recommend this restaurant if you want to try an authentic taste of Vietnamese dishes. This time I try the classic Bo bun with the Nem. The smell of lemon grass is pretty good. It’s the best Bo bun I’ve ever tried in Paris. There are also some menu sets with an affordable price for Banh mi and Bo bun. The waiters are nice and smiley. I’ll try Banh mi for...
