I will start with the positive aspects: it is a very cute and cozy café and the people working there were nice and friendly. Unfortunately many things were not enjoyable, we had ordered two “granola breakfasts” which included two drinks. We sat upstairs and the drinks arrived relatively fast, the drinks were okay (the chai latte was quite strong and sugary), while we were sat in the upper floor there’s a little room where food was being handled in an unsanitary way (the worker was wearing street clothes, not wearing an apron, hair was down..) we wondered if that was their “kitchen” and hoped it wasn’t. Half an hour passed by and we did not have any food, I asked the person working there if there had been any problem, indeed she had not gotten the orders hence why it was taking so long. She was very kind and immediately retook everyone’s orders and got to work. However the room we had been wondering about was indeed the kitchen, we could see everything, she started arranging the food and unfortunately did not wash her hands. We got our breakfast ten minutes later, two slices of bread with some packed miniature butter, store bought juice (we saw her pouring it) and yogurt with granola that had been stored in the fridge. I don’t think this meal is worth 10€ in any way, nothing felt...
Read moreFirst of all, this was our first visit to Strasbourg and this place was recommended ..... Well where do I begin! First, staff was rude, secondly we waited for over 45 minutes for our breakfast only to be told "they lost the order" . We sat upstairs, and from our seats we could see a lady with street clothes on, messing with her hair, reaching into a lettuce bag with bare hands! This little kitchen she worked out of was where all the meals were prepared, not in the larger area downstairs. She would pick up napkins off the floor and go right back to preparing food! Also, if you didn't use your silverware off your table she gave it to someone else! Unfortunately, we settled for just one eggs Benedict after the long wait and observation of unsanitary conditions. The eggs were cold, cooked the day before, soggy bread should never be used for Benedicts. We told the cashier of our issue, she only refunded the one order, said " well you ate it!" Well we did, we told her the breakfast was not good and it was cold, we were told "that's the way it is!" Well, first time to Strasbourg, and if I ever do come back I will not go back here. Go to...
Read moreWent to the place, and it took some time to get in, since I guess everyone wants to go in there, and Strassbourg is full.
Got some coffee and bread. The coffee was good, but the bread was cold. It seems to come from the bakery chain "Les Mains Dans la Farine". If you only want bread, do yourself a favor, and go there instead. Far less cramped, and you won't have to wait in case the place is full.
So summary:
2 stars due to cold bread. I would recommend to heat it before serving it. I was disappointed that it came from a (local/national bakery chain). As mentioned, though, the coffee itself was good. They seem to know what they are doing. Had I only had a coffe I would have given more stars.
5 stars on customer service. After getting in, I was served fast, and now I realize even the owner was there. He even took the time to read my review, which speaks miles for him, Ny Aina.
2 stars for atmopshere: My own subjective point of view. There is nothing to change there. It is just "not my cup of tea".
