Stepping into La Fignette as a solo traveler felt like embracing an adventure, one where the unknown promised an unfolding story of flavors and warmth. Nestled in the heart of a quaint street, its ambiance whispered stories of culinary craftsmanship and tradition. I was graciously accommodated last minute, a gesture that set the tone for an evening of unexpected delight.
The star of the night was undoubtedly the cordon bleu. A dish so commonly found yet rarely perfected, it was a revelation here. The smoked ham, rich and aromatic, paired with the sharpness of Munster cheese, created a symphony of flavors. But it was the chicken that stole the show – juicy, tender, cooked to such perfection that every bite felt like a discovery of what chicken could and should always aspire to be.
Accompanying this was a medley of roasted potatoes, a dance of textures from supremely crunchy to soothingly soft, each bite a contrast that only heightened the next. This harmony of textures was not just a side dish; it was an essential character in this culinary narrative, adding depth and delight in equal measure.
A good meal speaks to the soul, but a perfect pairing whispers to the heart. The Pinot Blanc from Alsace was that whisper – crisp, with a gentle acidity that cut through the richness of the dish, it was like finding the missing piece of a puzzle. This wine, with its subtle notes and elegant balance, was not just a companion to the meal but an integral part of the experience, elevating each flavor it encountered.
Dessert, as with any meal in France, transcends the need for words. It’s an experience, a finale that wraps up the symphony of flavors in a crescendo of sweetness and satisfaction. To say it was delightful would be an understatement; it was a fitting end to a culinary journey that felt both intimate and grand.
La Fignette, with its impeccable service, exquisite cuisine, and the warmth that greeted a solo traveler, was more than a meal. It was a reminder of the joy of discovery, the beauty of culinary art, and the unexpected connections that food can forge. For one evening, I wasn't just a traveler passing through; I was part of a story, a memory woven into the fabric of this charming establishment. And for that, I am...
Read moreWARNING, I FELT SCAMMED!
I only wanted to eat Creme Brulee so I went to the door to ask if they have Creme Brulee! He didn't accept to reply me he said wait outside and I will call you when we have a place inside!! I said why would I wait if you don't have what I ask for! Do you have this or not! He said just wait outside!!! Is it a school queue or what??!!
Why trying to fool me as a customer?? Why not being honest and answer a simple question!! Did he want us inside so you we order whatever we didn't come here for out of shame???
He left me unanswered! I asked a colleague of him he said he doesn't know because the other unfriendly guy is the one responsible for answering!! What is responsible for answering!!! I ask a Restaurant if they serve something specific to decide whether I should wait in a queue or not and they refuse yo answer me!!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH AN ATTITUDE BEFORE!!!!
And surprisingly, I told him this is a terrible attitude and I will write him a terrible review on google explaining what you did in details, he laughed SOOO loud and said he doesn't care!! IMAGINE!! He doesn't care about the customer who he uses to make money!??
I HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE because the person working there (at least the one who delt with me) is unfriendly and I felt that he just wanted to scam me...

La Fignette is a must-visit when in Strasbourg! During our 5-day vacation, we dined there three times—and would have gone a fourth if it weren’t for the crowds. It’s no surprise that this place is always busy, especially during the festive Christmas season. Be prepared: they don’t take reservations, and the line can stretch up to 2 hours. But trust us, it’s absolutely worth the wait.
The food is outstanding, a true celebration of Alsatian and French cuisine. Over our visits, we tried the choucroute, wadele (pork knuckle), beef with vegetables, hamburgers, hot wine, and mi-cuit (a perfectly done dessert). Every single dish was cooked to perfection, showcasing fresh ingredients and authentic flavors.
The atmosphere is cozy and festive, which adds to the charm. While waiting for a table during Christmas can be a challenge anywhere in Strasbourg, La Fignette stands out for delivering consistently excellent meals every time.
If you’re planning a trip, make sure to include La Fignette on your list. Just arrive early, bring your patience, and get ready for one of the best dining experiences...
