The location is the bright spot for this hotel. Could get to most things on foot. We don’t check out until tomorrow but I can already say that it has left much to be desired. The room was ok, tight for a family of 4 but it worked. Handy to have a kitchenette, but many dishes were not clean. The walls are paper thin and we heard constant noise overhead, our room wasn’t ready until 45 minutes AFTER check in time (less than ideal any time, but especially after a day of travel with 2 kids) and the service was basically non existent. The room was never cleaned during our stay and only after inquiring were we told of the “comfort corner” to refresh our towels, toilet paper, etc- seems convenient enough, even kind of liked the concept- however, after our third trip to an empty “comfort corner” we had to stop a maid to ask for supplies. We were begrudgingly allowed 2 towels and 1 roll of TP for 4 people for the 2.5 remaining days of our stay (ironically given to us while she was servicing the room directly outside the empty comfort corner). We also needed to do laundry during our stay. They use an app based washing machine system- again- seemed convenient enough- that enabled us to reserve machines for use… that is until the front desk apparently called someone else down to use our reserved machine and caused a very uncomfortable situation in front of the only dryer for which the desk staff admitted to messing up but then asked US to forfeit our reservation (by way of the desk staff physically using my phone app to cancel my spot showing 8 of 10 more minutes on my reservation) and were up until 10:30 pm to dry our wet laundry for which we had reserved the dryer hours before. What may seem like small inconveniences and frustrations add up to an overall extremely poor level of satisfaction and comfort. And, fwiw, this was the service we got with fairly good French ability in our family. But…. we could...
Read moreStayed for 2 days in December. When we booked, there was an apartment offering adjacent to the hotel. We stayed in the apartment (still part of Hotel Kleber). Here are the pros and cons. Much bigger than usual European accomodations. (note; we were not in the main hotel, so I can't speak for the room size there). We had a large common area with table, TV, Couch, and chair. Kitchen which was servicable, BUT the freezer had literally inches of frost. We used it only to make ice cubes, but it definitely needed to be defrosted and cleaned. 2 bedrooms, ok. One bath with toilet , and one bath with shower. Shower worked well, BUT there is a small step in the bathroom floor in front of the sink. VERY EASY to trip here. Be careful. Wi-Fi service was good. We were there in December, very cold, but heat in the apartment was good. I did not see a thermostat or any control. I mention this because if you book in the summer months you should definitely ask about air conditioning! If there is no air conditioning and you have to have windows open there would be a LOT of street/tram noise because this hotel is adjacent to one of the main tram interchanges. Biggest problem we had--there were 3 of us and they would only give us ONE KEY!! That made if difficult if we wanted to split up and come and go at different times!!! Location is great for the...
Read moreThis is a cute little apartment hotel located just off of Place Kleber. I should distinguish this from a regular hotel because we’re basically staying in a furnished apartment. Wifi incl. We had the two bedroom and had a fully furnished living room, kitchen, including a dishwasher and a laundry unit. The beds and bathrooms had linens however we would have to ask the front desk if you wanted new linens and then had to change it ourselves. There’s also a separate laundry room that uses an app that’s quite easy to navigate and we were actually able to do a couple loads of laundry easily. There was also a continental breakfast every morning between 730 and 1030. I believe this cost about €15 per adult. I think children were free. It was a great breakfast because it included coffee juice, scrambled eggs, toast, and pastries, cereal, and yogurt deli meat and cheese. This saved the effort of having to hunt down a place to eat breakfast before we went out for the day.
Last week I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that all the staff spoke English so for us, this was really key. I want to do a special shout out to Joyce who was especially helpful during check-in...
