Disappointing, nightmare, rude. Book by email a week in advance for a table outside, with a view at 9:00 PM. Everything ok and perfect they told us.
I arrived at 20:55. The first thing they do is put us in the middle of the room (the terrace was closed) with several tables with a lot of people, when they had several empty tables in a quieter area with views to the outside. As soon as we sat down without time for anything, the manager of the room came and without even saying good night she put the menu in front of me and told us in half English half French that the kitchen was closing now and that we had to order immediately. I understand that if you give me a table at 9:00 p.m. it is because you can serve me correctly, we already started badly. I asked her for two beers after she told me this, after two minutes she returned to the table and she told us the same thing again. I with an already incredulous face told her that ok, but that she put me two beers. After a minute and a half she came back with a grim face (4 or 5 minutes had passed since I sat down and it was the third time she had gone to the table to rush us, yes, the beers were still not there). Without understanding the letter much, we asked for what we more or less understood (anyone told them to explain something to you). We ordered a foie gras to share, duck and schnitzel. The first course was brought after two minutes, yes, the beer still not incredible. A couple of minutes later the beer finally. The foie gras is good, nothing spectacular but good. When we were halfway through the plate I asked for two glasses of red wine, I am not exaggerating when I say that it took them 7 MINUTES to get me a glass of wine. As soon as we finished the foie they gave us the second courses (the wine arrived later). The escalope was very weak without flavor, tasteless. The duck very good. I still ordered another glass of wine and it took like 7-8 minutes again. So much so that I almost finished the plate. When I still hadn't finished the duck, they literally took my plate off the table and the head waiter came back with the menus for the desserts, I was already a little pissed off. Everything was rushed, they did not make an effort to communicate in the least. When I ordered dessert, I asked for the ones that the tables next to us had ordered, and they looked awful, the bad thing is that they needed preparation. The answer to both desserts (there could be 5) is that they were already finished, what a coincidence that they were the two that had to be prepared in the kitchen. With disbelief and already a little angry I told him to recommend one. He told me one with an unpronounceable name, I said ok. He brought me some kind of ice cream cake after 3 minutes, honestly it was bad. So angrily I called her and asked her if that was the best dessert in the house, she said yes. To which I replied in English that it was very weak and that I was disappointed. Seeing me angry, he changed his face and began to be more likeable. I asked him for the bill... 110 euros. 55 euros per person I think it deserves attention and at least education. I think it's the first time in my life that I don't leave a tip for a job. In conclusion, rudeness, weak food, at least what I tried (and I am one of those who easily likes everything) and rush. I don't know if it was because I was Spanish and they know I won't be back, but the treatment was terrible and even more so in a place that is supposed to be of the highest quality. I never criticize because I know how painful they are, but you guys earned it hard last night. My score is zero because the treatment and education is something that should never fail and yesterday was conspicuous by its absence, especially in the room manager. I am really sorry for this criticism but I am sure that the owners of the company will appreciate knowing this type of behavior, I would like it, even...
Read moreI would consider this place very touristic. If you want just to eat without being picky for food quality and want good portions, can be an ok places, because you can find this criteria everywhere in Strasbourg so you don’t need to pay 50 euros per person for that. Unfortunately my experience wasn’t good, first I didn’t like the escargot 🐌 there were a taste in them I couldn’t specify, it is like they were not fresh. The onion 🧅 soupe is really good but does it worth 11,80 euro 🤷🏻♀️. The main menu was acceptable, not insanely good like at other restaurants where you pay half of the price. We had a very weird experience with the dessert 🍮, crème brûle, I never ate something like it before, there is no vanilla, but the server insisted that there is, in the end It turns out is the rhum of vanilla but you don’t even taste it or smell it and it cost 10 euros 😂😂😂😂 RIDICULOUS!!! I mean yes you are In a touristic place but maybe care a bit about the quality chef! Anyway, everything seems fake and touristy even communication with servers, so I would say Do not go there if you wanna eat well go there if you want to spend your money on a...
Read moreThe snails were a success we had so much fun with it as entrées at the beginning of our evening here. The Tarte aux oignons howerver was better elsewhere in Strasbourg. The soupe à l’oignon so tasty. With champaign 65€/person. A so kind and attentive service. The service team take really good care of us we were 9 with kids. In summer the serve only at the terrace inside too warm. Lovely romantic atmosphere outside on the edge of water and also with the boats coming away through the water navigation lock right there form the restaurant’s terrace. Lovely evening with the boat shows for kids and adults. The choucroute is amazing. Le dessert Prune plum au Pinot noir is so worth the price. Good espresso. The “Poire Belle Helène” dessert is a flop too much Crème Chantilly but the chocolate sauce is so tasty. It is a revisited version not the typical one. Kids menu available. The Wiener schnizel was tasty. Toilets downstairs clean. In general the price/quality ratio is good. Reservations highly recommended. Only 10 max tables under sunshades....
