Have you ever entered “your” hotel room just to find other people’s belongings in there? |No? Us either— until our short and HORRIBLE experience at Hotel Kaijoo.||After 6 hours of driving my husband and mother-in-law from Innsbruck to Strasbourg to enjoy the best Christmas market in France, we were left stranded with nowhere to stay. Why you ask? Because whoever controls this joke of a hotel’s booking, completely messed up and took zero responsibility for it. ||How does a ‘modern hotel’ in a booming city give away a previously booked and paid for room? A mistake, yes-but to not recognize it and fix it before giving us a key to that room without seeing they put someone else is in it? It was incompetency at its finest. Not to mention a failure in maintaining the privacy and security of its guests. The situation could have evolved in so many bad ways and the hotel acted like that happens frequently and ‘usually we’ll just give an upgrade to compensate’. ||But nope. They offered us nothing-not even a coffee, water, or a simple apology?! We were forced to wait in the hotel lobby at 10 pm for nearly an hour with NO resolution to an utterly unacceptable situation. They gave another family our pre-booked, pre-paid room and had no other rooms for us. ||After ‘trying’ to find us a place, we were offered nothing from the hotel. Our vacation ruined, with no care given by the staff. Ultimately we were left with no where to go. We were forced to drive back to my place in Germany 2 hours and now I have to fight to get the nights refunded. ||Nobody should EVER be treated this way. If you wonder why the reviews for this place are so low on every single platform. Heed the warning. Stay...

Unfortunately  I don’t have many nice things to say about this hotel except maybe that the staff are nice and it is well situated in the centre of Strasbourg. Apart from that, everything else seems to be a rip-off. It is far too expensive for what it is (I assure you that you’ll find other hotels equally well placed and with better amenities for the same price or even lower). First off, believe all the negative reviews you’ve read concerning the lighting; the first room I was assigned was so poorly lit, it had only two lamps to illuminate the room (see photos), weirdly, the bathroom was way better. It also had a quite ugly red rug that looked even uglier with the poor light. Having to work in my room, I went down to the reception to complain and was then switched to a different [renovated] room which had better lighting but was small and poorly conceived. There was a really slim table, BEHIND the bed, that is really uncomfortable to work on (to be fair the lady at reception warned me but I chose light over table). There was a telephone on it that wasn’t connected, so no way to contact reception apart from going all the way down there, the shower was old and a bit rusty and didn’t close properly so I ended up getting water everywhere. To top it all off, there isn't a bin in the bathroom, had to resort to the [already too small] one under the table in the room. Honestly, unless you’re a tourist visiting during summer and are sure to be out most of the day, only coming back to sleep, find another hotel. This place is not worth it, at all. It is DEFINITELY NOT a 4-star hotel...

Their WiFi was super bad. One lady at the reception told us there was nothing she could do, instead of telling us they had an offer to take a pocket wifi for 3€ a day Their parking is incredibly dense and shared with other establishments - our car couldn't fit into the spaces we were told so we parked where their 'spaces for disabled people' were (though I don't know how two cars would possibly fit there; she told us luckily there were no disabled persons booked for the two nights we were staying) 🐶 There is a fee for having a dog with you (about 9 per day), they offer free phone charging, beer, coffee and pretzels during the day by the reception Our room had a nice view, the room itself was big and not very well lit (some lights didn't work), the bathroom and the toilet were separate so the four of us didn't have to wait to use the sink or to shower while someone was on the toilet The hotel is very close to restaurants, stores and the Cathedral (just a short walk away) Overall it's a good hotel in a small space so it has limited parking options, has kind staff and you can report anything broken on their special form which you can deliver to the front desk

We recently stayed here and overall had a great experience. The room was a very generous size and would easily accommodate a large family – we were two adults and five children, and there was still plenty of space. It’s rare to find such spacious accommodation, especially in a city setting, so this was a real bonus for us. The view from the balcony was fantastic, giving us a lovely outlook and making the space feel even more open and welcoming. The location is also excellent – it’s in a great spot for exploring Strasbourg, with many attractions, shops, and restaurants within walking distance. Whether you're sightseeing or just enjoying the atmosphere of the city, this place makes for a perfect base. There were just a few small let-downs. The tea and coffee provisions in the room were limited – a better selection of tea bags and some milk would have made a big difference for those of us who enjoy a cuppa in the morning. Also, the car parking is very tight. If you’re driving anything larger than a Fiat 500, be prepared for a challenge. Despite these minor issues, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
