Delirium Café — Restaurant in Strasbourg

I’d like to leave the proper number of stars for the atmosphere and the beer selection, but the way I was treated by the rude, confused, bartender is the reason of my bad review. On the 27th evening (bachata night, apparently) I asked to try two beers before deciding. This guy started arguing with me…something about “we have a board written for you”, which, by the way, I have read and based my selection upon…duhhhh. Probably this guy did not appreciate my poor French (which is ironic in the capital of Europe, supposed to be multilingual) but in the end he made my whole experience a negative one…and I simply did what I do in a normal bar: try before buy. Terribly rude bartender caused me to leave before we even sat down. I greeted him in French and then asked if they served food. He just looked at me confused so I asked again more slowly. He just said “no English, only French”. I know this is an international chain and I’ve been to many of them so he certainly understood what I was asking. Also I must point out they were playing awful techno dance music sort of stuff so loudly you’d be challenged to actually talk with the people you came with. We just walked out and had a very pleasant meal and beers elsewhere. I would recommend avoiding this place until management takes some steps to get in in line with their other locations. Abnormal rules, arrogant staff. We had a table for a team of about 40 people. I wanted to go out for a few minutes to have some fresh air. I was told that if I leave the building, they will not let me back in. No reasonable explanation given.
