I recently visited Restaurant l’Absinthe and wanted to share my experience. While the venue has a charming atmosphere, there were a few aspects that didn’t meet my expectations.
First, I found it challenging that the staff seemed unable to communicate in either German or English. As an English and German speaker, I felt a bit isolated and struggled to place my order comfortably. Clear communication is essential for a pleasant dining experience, especially for international guests.
Second, I was disappointed that the vodka cocktail listed on the menu was unavailable. It’s always a let‑down when a featured drink can’t be prepared, and I hoped for a quick solution or at least an alternative suggestion.
Overall, l’Absinthe has potential, but improving multilingual service, ensuring menu items are consistently available, and managing the tourist flow would greatly enhance the guest experience. I hope the team takes these points into consideration for...
Read moreAlmost perfect! The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy and of restaurant quality, the blue cheese sauce was absolutely stunning even though it had a rather brown appearenxe and of course the fries were perfectly crunchy outside and soft and fluffy inside. Nothing to complain about there. If i need to criticise the food, The salad was too little. Thats all. The beer was one of the most delicious beers i have ever drunk (mort subite), the creme brulee needs a hint more of real bourbon vanille but apart from that it wasburnt to perfection and even flambéed with the dangerously delicious absinthe of the house. Only when two of the dtaff sat rigjt in front of the open door and window (due to the intense heat!) and started smoking tobacco, i almost lost myself. You shouldnt do that at all, but even less when paying customers are around. Apart from that very bad situation, it was...
Read morewe had a great dinner here on our last night in strausborg. this is a small and intimate restaurant with a limited menu, just how my dad and I like it. we especially appreciated the owner, who was willing to speak french with my dad. he was raised by quebec french speakers and the french in france are not always enthused when foreigners try to speak their language. ultimately, we were the quietest americans in the restaurant (low bar).
on to food. started with the beef carpaccio, which could have been a bit thinner but the nice pesto spread over the top of it made up for it. I had perfectly cooked steak frites in pepper sauce and my dad got the duck. we both throughly enjoyed our meal and had to finish with creme brulee. i would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend. the owner made us feel like family and that is the key to good dining.
cheers and hope to...
