The ambiance is nice, though not quite up to the exorbitante prices they charge. There is wood everywhere and some kitsch decorations.. the waiters all have casual sorts and shirt. The service was quick and the food came fast.. and that’s about it regarding the good things.

The menue is almost all meat and the few (very few) non meat choices they offer are not healthy or light in any way. If anything, they lack the basic imagination of even pizza hut. It’s just potatoes and onions or sour cream... or galette...

So, feeling completely uninspired by their options I decided to go for a Caprese salad, which is basically mozzarella and tomatoes with a bit of olive oil and basil. Simple, light, be it boring. Priced at 10 euros I thought at least there will be some good quality in my plate. I couldn’t have been more wrong: it was tasteless tomato with very cheap mozzarella (you know the kind that are always discounted?) and on top of that they tried to justify the price with a balsamic sauce. But, you guessed it! It was horrible: sweet like the barbecue sauce you would use for ribs... just disgusting. So I though: never mind, I was vise to also ask for some bread next to it, so I should be fine. Right?! Wrong again! it was incredibly stale and un edible...

So, long story short: avoid at all cost if you are not a meat first kind of person. Even if tou live meat, it’s by no means amazing or up to the prices they charge.

My husband had the spare ribs and even though they were not amazing (too fatty, not marinated enough to get the tenderness you expect our of rib meat), he said they...

Food was okay. The pork knuckle was a bit dry on the outside. Rest of food pretty salty so really mainly a match for chugging beer.

Considering pork knuckle came with rest of food ten minutes after ordering, it must be premade and reheated. Meh. Less wait time in exchange for less freshness.

A small cockroach made its way to our tabletop during the dinner. So that’s definitely no good. So much for the atmosphere.

The ambience got very cozy and warm with all the lights on tables and dangling on the trees as it got dark.

Overcharges for drinks, 9.5 euro for a bottle of water. I guess they assume you are loaded if you vacation here. This is way more than the 6.5 I’ve seen in other cities.

Total lack of service. No greeting when we went up. Took minutes for someone to come up to table and ask about drinks. Two waiters asked if we want drinks, so clearly lack of coordination. After meal was eaten, took a while for someone to clean up dishes. Then, eventually someone just walked up with the bill. Seems like they do the bills in batches, a guy takes out the bill to multiple tables.

Incidentally it seems he was having a bad day, evidenced by hand waving and some utterances. Pretty hilarious to watch. Not so fun is the obviously ignoring of eye contact when you wanna ask him for the bill as he walked by. Add to that the appearance of the face to begin with…

I think the place is okay for grubs but isn’t some place I would want...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Löwenbräu, thanks to a recommendation from a friend of mine who owns motorcycles. I was searching for a good day ride from Stewart, and he suggested this spot, highlighting the beautiful two-hour route through the Black Forest. The ride itself was incredible—smooth, scenic, and seemingly designed for motorcycles. Along the way, I must have seen over 100 bikes, all soaking in the same gorgeous day and perfect riding weather.

Arriving at Löwenbräu shortly after they opened, I was immediately impressed by the aesthetics. The raised outdoor café area nestled among trees was a lovely touch, offering a nice view of the bustling city walking area below. The atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed, with plenty of space to accommodate even larger groups, which is always a bonus for bikers riding together.

Service was prompt and friendly, which I appreciated. The food, however, was the real surprise. I’ll be honest—German cuisine isn’t typically my go-to, but what they served here was fantastic. Everything was well-prepared and flavorful, making me rethink my usual reluctance toward the cuisine.

Overall, Löwenbräu delivered on all fronts: ambiance, service, food, and location. The journey there was just as enjoyable as the destination itself. Whether you’re a biker looking for a scenic ride or just someone who appreciates good food in a charming setting, I highly recommend giving this...

Tourist trap: very disappointing! Perhaps ordering two specials was a mistake but the food was clearly all premade and just reheated especially the vegetables some of which were possibly taken from a jar - bland and overcooked. I prefer food from buffet where everything is ready in a hot container. The service was not existent, a couple disinterested ladies wearing the traditional dirndle and spoke French. There were only a couple of customers dining. The price they charge for this reheated dressed up food is robbery. I’ve paid €10 for a bottle of water but here, smh. The pretzel is inexpensive 2.5€ and nothing special. The overall 4.2 rating didn’t look amazing but many recent 5 star reviews were good enough. We were passing through the area and wanted some local food. Now I wonder if the chef was off or maybe all the food was made in the morning for the day. I also question what the other reviewers were eating. I wouldn’t come back here even for a free meal unless it was under new ownership and I knew there was a real chef working.
