CODOS Berlin — Restaurant in Berlin

The food and coffee is amazing but there are issues with the customer service, unfortunately. My two most disappointing encounters were when one I got locked on their terrace, was knocking and calling them for 20 minutes without any result until one of the guests inside noticed me and left me in.

The other time was today when I wanted to sit down outside for 5 minutes with the kids and drink a tea but was kicked out because the tea wasn’t bought in codos. From one side I do understand it, the venue has its own rules. From the other, the tables outside were empty (which is normally the case here) and even though in this very moment I indeed didn’t buy anything from them, I’m normally spending 20-50 Euro per week here bc I’m living and working in the neighborhood. I did consider myself a regular customer and found this situation really frustrating. I know from my own experience that it’s normally not an issue for the venues in this neighborhood when someone sits down outside for a short time as long as there are empty tables. Fatastic new specialty coffee shop! Loved the place for various reasons. They put a lot of effort into their business, which means we the clients get to benefit. I mean I love to buy coffee at a place that invests in providing a high end experience to their clients. Attention to detail goes a long way there, and it is felt in every aspect of the business:

The pastries and cakes are all baked in house, they look AMAZING, and even taste really good. You could feel the love❣️

The design of the place is awesome! Exactly my taste. Smart, sophisticated, simple and luxurious. Great materials and color choices.

They serve the coffee in ACME porcelain (if you do not know that brand, it is the Rolls Royce of coffee drinkware). How awesome is that!

They smile! And give really good friendly service, which is (sad to say) rare in Berlin. Ao...

I found the place online, was really excited about some pictures of hot cross buns. Unfortunately 90% of what they had in the offer were cakes and sweets. All the cakes look modern but homemade, I took one with almond and orange. Cake looked very moist and there were signs of orange inside so I was hoping for rich orange flavor. Unfortunately the cake was a disappointment, the main dominating flavor was some kind of cheese (white/ philadelphia/ slightly sour), the orange note was just somewhere in the background, you could feel they also overused the baking powder. Additionally the butter cream on top was not well made, extremely sweet and you could feel sugar pieces cracking between the teeth. The place has nice modern look and feel, I didn't try the coffee, so probably I go back and try something more, but there is a lot of space for improvement. 6 out...
