I do not regret much in life but I do regret going to this pub today with my brother and my friend. We came in and took a table. We saw the waiter, we waited 15 mins that he comes to take our order but he never appeared. The pub was full at only 25% capacity so I don't understand why we were never even offered a menu to begin with. But we thought the waiter might have noticed us and so I grabbed a vagrant menu on the table nearby and went to order at the bar directly. I myself have worked as a waiter in the past and my brother is "Assistant Maître d'hotel " for a cruiseline. So we did not mind since we know the perks of the job. I went to order and up pick three drinks ( we were 3 in total) and brought them to our table. We decided to go for a second round. There was this ginger haired guy who served us initially at the bar and we signalled to him that we wanted to order more drinks. He told us to wait with hand gesture. We waited for 10 mins but nobody came. Even Jesus found God quicker in the desert but we did not find a waiter. So I took the empty glasses , went to the bar and ordered again. I made sure I gave my piece my mind and the second barman ( not the ginger guy) told me that I have to pick up my drinks myself when I come to the bar otherwise I have to order with a waiter: whom we never found. Instead of giving an apology, and here I would like to point out that I am in Germany for the last 10 years and I make sure my cristism sounds like one when I share it with the person concerned, I was with a white patronising attitude.I am not sure if I said please while ordering but at this point I think they did not deserve any courtesy from my side. I did not even say thank you when I got my drinks because the Ginger haired barman was already at the bar by this time and did not even utter a word.I am inclined to say beggars cannot be choosers to sum up the whole situation but here I am paying for it; so am definitely not the begging party. I am not sure if the management will read this comment but if you do then tell that barman to enjoy his white privilege while he can. Hospitality and the German language is not his strength but how dare a brown guy question that. Thankfully the world order is changing. I can say by far and large this was one of the worst customer service I got in Germany. I don't know where that barman comes from but Germans are more hospitable than...
Read moreEditing this for my latest visit - 28/08/25. I watched the young barman pour a few Guinness zero and couldn't believe my eyes. He open the can and put it the whole way into the glass, drawing it out slowly. In fact too slowly so that it was immersed in the drink and overflowed around the can. So effectively he put a dirty can right into the customer's drink and then served it up. Seriously, what is wrong with just pouring things properly. I thought this place would have improved over time but, in fact, it has just got worse. The men's toilets are stinking. No lights in there except the ambient light coming in from outside. Dirty and overpriced.
I visit this bar every time I come to Berlin for handiness more than anything. The only time I ever received good service was from a barman called Barry(?)Actually his customer service was outstanding. Every other time the service was dire. Last December when it was cash only, I was short changed and had to challenge the barman about it. His rudeness was par for the course. This week, the barmaid forgot my order and then gave it to someone else, while blaming the waitress. Funnily enough the customers next to me had to call her back as she short changed them. I have worked in the customer service industry for over 30 years and the I would advise your staff to Acknowledge customers Get their order right Get their change correct Smile when serving a badly pulled, over priced pint of Guinness. Take some lessons in customer service and pint...
Read moreKilkenny Irish Pub in Berlin has been one of my go-to spots for a good pint of Guinness. The beer is great, and the classic Irish pub vibe—complete with good music and a cozy atmosphere—has always been a draw. However, my latest visit left me extremely disappointed, mainly because of the overpriced and underwhelming food.
A burger with fries costing nineteen to twenty-one euros is already on the steep side, but I decided to give it a shot. Big mistake. The burger arrived cold, the fries were overly greasy, and the portion was so small it felt like a joke. Honestly, I’ve had better meals at McDonald’s or from the kebab stand around the corner—for a fraction of the price. The quality was nowhere near what you’d expect for such a premium charge.
While I understand prices are rising everywhere, these prices are unreasonable, especially when the food doesn’t deliver. If the quality matched the cost, I wouldn’t mind, but this was just disappointing on every level: 33.50€ for 2 Guinness and a burger + tip. Stick to the drinks, enjoy the ambience, but skip the food unless you’re okay with paying too much for...
