Don't come here, trust me. Came here on 15 September 2021, 3pm and it was a horrible experience, I will not come back.
If you are Asian, they will give you an attitude and aren't bothered to serve you. Which does not make sense because I am literally here just to eat their food?
Ironically, they posted pictures of Asian customers on their Instagram to imply they have customers from all over the world, flocking to them.
The staffs were not welcoming towards me the moment I walked in. The South Asian staff (even more ironic) rudely gestured me to sit at an outdoor table and gave me an attitude when I requested to sit inside.
I waited quite a bit before someone came. This lcoal German man was the only one who helped me take my orders etc, seemed as if he had to do it because no one wanted to. The others ignored me. I later noticed all the staffs were way more attentive to the locals who came in and they all got their food and menus immediately. I waited 40 mins for my apple strudel. Even the local lady who sat beside me was puzzled because she came an hour after me and was done and about to leave, but I still sat waiting.
The only amazing person at the place was the lady collecting fees to use the toilet. Also, this doesn't make sense? Why would you charge your customers 50c to use the toilet? Aren't you a well to do restaurant that has been around for a bit? Is this a German thing or this restaurant is just too stingy?
I don't think the food is that amazing. Apple strudel was decent but honestly, there are way better places with friendlier staffs. Not sure why they think they can be rude to their customers? Especially non-locals? What a...
Read moreWe picked this place because we wanted traditional German food and we liked the vibe around the general area. However, it was impossible to order and there seems to be long wait times before staff come over to table. The waitress first came over around 20 minutes after we'd initially sat down and asked if I was ready to order, at which point my partner had gone to the toilet so I was left to order by myself. Having waited for so long I decided to just go for it and would attempt to order on both of our behalf, having confirmed 'yes I'm ready to order'. however as I was flicking through to the drinks list (to double check a pronunciation of something), the waitress became impatient and decided for herself that I wasn't ready to order and therefore left the table before I had a chance to order anything. Partner then got back from the toilet and we waited for around another 30 minutes at which point I had to use the bathroom. On my way back to the table, my partner said that the waitress had been back and asked 'ready now?' (apparently quite sternly, although I wasn't there to confirm if that's true) and he'd asked for 5 minutes and stated that I was just in the toilet and would be back shortly. The waitress then left again. At this point we decided it wasn't worth the hassle and got up and left. It's a shame as this was our last evening in Berlin and we'd been looking forward to a nice meal. Would...
Read moreI will preface that I forgot to take photos of my food at this restaurant. We ordered a Berliner Currywurst, Riesenbockwurst, and Hauptstadtteller. I found the Riesenbockwurst to not be super flavorful, which was disappointing since I was very excited to try it. The currywurst was pretty good.
My biggest concern is the restaurant's handling of food allergies. The server handed us an allergen menu and informed us of the letter allergen codes and insisted that as long as the food did not have the allergen letters written, it would not contain any peanuts or nuts. Before someone in our party ordered the Hauptstadtteller, they triple checked that there was no indication of any tree nuts. However, when they received their dish, there were slivers that looked like nuts, and upon tasting them, two other people in my party confirmed that it tasted like almonds. This dish did not have the tree nuts allergen listed. After returning home from this restaurant, I read the menu again and noticed that the Berliner Bouletten noted that it had almond slivers, and the Boulette is one of the specialty dishes included in the Hauptstadtteller. Hoping this can be changed in the future and that it is clearer to those dining at this restaurant what contains or does not...
