My friends and I ate here for lunch. We thought the restaurant was ok to eat at because of the reviews we read beforehand. but here are some things that we didn’t like about the restaurant
While ordering drinks, none of us ever specified on the size. When the waitress went over our order "to make sure" she had it right, we noticed that one of the drinks was ordered large (which was 2 euro more). We don’t drink much soda so we told the waitress that all the drinks are supposed to be small drinks. The response we got was "It’s too late to change the order". we again told her that we never ordered a large soda. She then again said "You need to tell me if you want a small, because if you don’t tell me a size, I assume you want a big size". Again, none of us specified the size we wanted so how did she just "assume" that the rest of us wanted a small drink while one of us wanted a big? And why did she even bother to check with us that the order was correct if she already sent the order to the kitchen?
The food: It was the most watery pizza I have ever had. All the three pizzas we got was so watery that even the dough was soggy. The carbonara was pasta with water and a little bit of carbonara sauce. We hadn’t had any breakfast before this and we’re really hungry so we just forced ourselves to eat the food, but it was horrible!
A plus point for the restaurant is the one waitress that served us the food (not the one that took our order). She was kind, smiling and very helpful, unlike the other one who didn’t even...
Read moreAs others have said - the pizza tasted and looked like a cheap frozen one. My spaghetti portion was also small. I had to ask for Parmesan, and was given shavings, not grated cheese. Service yes, was fast, but the twinkle-toed waiter seemed to think he was running a marathon, not trying to create a relaxed ambiance. Also there was a weird boss-like fella sat sternly at one of the tables and every now and then he’d indicate he’d like the staff to speed up even faster… Really the frenzy was enough to give one indigestion. The bill, when it came was a shocker. We’d asked for tap water and were told they didn’t do that. Instead we were charged €15 Euros for two bottles of still water, one of which was warm. So with that and the sub par food I wasn’t happy. When I quibbled, the waiter got cross and insisted I pay the bill, then insisted I add a tip. There was no option to refuse a tip on the card machine. It all felt a little intimidating… Hey I know it’s a tourist haunt.. but it’s the only place in Berlin this week where I’ve left feeling shortchanged after a meal… all the others were great...
Read moreWe visited the café on May 18, 2024. At the entrance, we were greeted by a "typical Italian waiter" who cheerfully spoke in Italian and served with jokes. It created the impression of being in a small family-run Italian café catering to locals rather than tourists. The menu was diverse, making us want to try everything, with large portions that were very tasty. However! We asked to have the remaining pizza packed to go. The waiter took the plates and, with his bare hands, transferred the pizza pieces from each of the three plates into the box! This happened right after he had handled money from previous customers! This is simply outrageous! We paid the bill with a tip, took the pizza, and threw it away outside the café. I didn't make a remark to him because I didn't want to ruin my mood. I find such behavior unacceptable and even fear to think about how the food is prepared. I request the café owners to address this situation and remind them that disposable gloves have been invented in the modern world. If it weren't for this incident, the rating would have been...
