With a few disclaimers, a nice stay. ||Not great for mobility impaired: elevator “out” - so even the “first floor” requires lugging luggage up a flight of stairs. Our shower was an accident waiting to happen - large step up and in or out, slippery floor, no hand holds or secure rails in a glass box. Careful!! Television language was in Russian, so our German speaking family member and a technology guy like me were both baffled. Finally got a few German only stations. Rooms were laid out strangely, like converted apartments. Hotel staff only available 8 am - 10 pm, access available through a back door if preregistered with keys in hand. Still very functional - comfortable - roomy.||Staff were quite friendly, accommodating, and helpful to us (both shifts)||Location, location, location!!!!||Walking distance to everything: ALL the embassy’s, the Brandenburg Gate, The Wall remains display, Checkpoint Charley (3 Euro’$ per person for photos with phony guards in WWII era costumes). Close to grocery stores, cafe’s, THE HUGE Berlin Mall. Hotel is literally across the street from the Museum of Communications.||Lobby has some maps, snacks, beer, wine and limited booze.||PARKING: On-Site has limited availability @10 (Euro’$). Very tight - crazy you need skills to get in and out, but doable. There is some limited free and some paid street parking - good luck with that. If you have a vehicle see if you can reserve a spot.||BREAKFAST: 8 am - (promptly - not before) @ 7 Euro’$ - and VERY NICE - a German continental breakfast. The first few offerings were possibly day old bit decent - but THEN fresh hot baked (yes still oven hot) : mostly spacious delicious rolls and croissants! Boiled eggs, cold cuts, cereals, yogurts, jams, juice, liverwurst - GOOD COFFEE!!||Rooms: Mostly spacious (largest by far found in two weeks of travel). Very clean with very-very slight sign of mold in shower. Not a Hilton still Nothing a dash of bleach wouldn’t fix. Otherwise spotless.||LOTS and lots of power outlets everywhere!||Other than stated, everything in our two rooms were working, and neat and orderly, not exposed wire holes, or troublesome issues or lacking in any way. Comfortable beds.||Recommended with caveats stated...
Read moreThe hotel isn't that bad. The rooms are very basic (bed, side table, large window with street view, small amount of storage space), bathrooms are also basic but towels are provided. There's also free wifi which is great.||||The location of the hotel is excellent, for the price, it's great to be so close to the city centre, Brandenburg Gate, Tiergarten, etc. are all within 10 minute walking distance. There is also a small cafe in the hotel which is good if you want a coffee, fizzy drinks, snacks etc. up until 8pm each night. Useful to stock up as there isn't a mini fridge in the room.||||Staff are a bit abrupt and look like they don't want to be there, but they are laid back and will let you come and go as you please. Level of English is quite poor (thankfully I speak German so it wasn't an issue).||||In summary, the hotel is excellent if you are a young student / solo traveller who doesn't mind a very basic room for a couple of nights just to sleep in and relax in, without any frills attached. I really wouldn't recommend it for older travellers, couples or those who want anything special. It's only worth it for the low price and very central location. Would not recommend for...
Read moreIf you like classic music the hotel is 15 minutes on foot to opera houses and Philharmonie. If you stay in Advent time, the best market at Gendarmenmarkt is near. In walking distance there are Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburger Tor ... ||I stayed in a single room with bathroom. The room was surprisingly large. It was clean but very poor equipped. The lighting was weak. In the bathroom there was no shelf under the mirror or anywhere else. Fortunately, the table in the room was big. There were el. socket and switch by the bed, but out of function. I had to move the bed nearer to the socket in the wall. The room was oriented toward the busy street (Leipzigerstr.) There are no AC and I suppose that it is hard to sleep by the open window. I stayed in cold weather. The breakfast is buffet style, simple but adequate for the price. A little bit more investment in the hotel would...
