I came to the café for a matcha latte and a scone, but the experience was far from pleasant. At 3 PM, with plenty of customers around, a staff member was assembling and varnishing chairs right next to the food counter. The sound of the drill, the smell of varnish, and the dust made it uncomfortable to stay.
On top of that, the scone I ordered was stale. It’s unacceptable to perform maintenance work in a food-serving area. There is time for this kind of work during non-operating hours, and certainly not when serving customers and selling food. This place needs serious reconsideration of its standards. Read moreThis is still my favorite morning coffee joint. The staff is always friendly. But the place just isn't the same with Julia's absence.
Julia was a decisive reason why so many people switched their loyalty from Impala to Maxway.
The friendly staff keeps me coming. But the removal of the couches - replaced by cafeteria style tables - had killed a bit of the atmosphere.
The old couches were in DIRE need of replacing. But they should have been replaced with new couches rather than the resulting space-oprimization tables.

I’m never in this area, but I was looking for good coffee and a croissant. Sadly they didn’t have any, so I got a cookie and tbh it did not disappoint. (On a side note: it was so hard to decide what to get. The muffins and especially the blueberry scones looked so good. And some of the muffins were vegan.)
The cookie wasn’t overly sweet and had the perfect crunch while it was buttery on the inside.
The coffee (cappuccino) also was really good.
