Most places are usually closed on Sundays, but Otito was open for customers during the BMW-Berlin Marathon! Thank you for being open! We enjoyed drinking our freshly made peach iced tea garnished with fresh mint and sliced lemons while watching the marathon runners out the window! Other folks were happily downing their freshly poured beer right out of the tap! The food is delicious offering Vietnamese and Japanese cuisines! Everything we ordered was freshly prepared and cooked! There was only 1 cook in the back and 2 servers, because of this rare Sunday opening, but all of customers were understanding and patient as it got a bit busy! Yes, this restaurant takes credit card and don’t be shy to tip! They give service with a smile and one server speaks several languages: German, English, Vietnamese, Chinese! The menu is also in English! We ordered the beef pho, appetizer: fried rolls with chicken-veggies/mushrooms-noodles inside, and salmon teriyaki plate with rice and salad! They have generous portions and the umami flavors are that you would expect of these...
Read moreI'm genuinely disappointed, I chose this place because of the positive reviews but since I walked in I didn't have a good experience. I was waiting to be seated, they told me to sit anywhere which is fine but when I sat down I was waiting for a menu around 5/8mins and no one came up...so I went to grab it myself and the waitress gave me an odd look. I asked for glass of water and it was poured into a wine glass😂🫣 such small mistakes and they affect the customers experience, staff need more training. Otherwise, the Udon pasta dish with chicken was nice, no issues with the food. Edit: Had to drop it to one star as the waitress was demanding cash, from an older lady that was paying Infront of me. When I went to pay, she also demanded cash, I told her no I only have card. (There's no cash only sign) So I paid in card but I wanted to give a 0% tip as the waitress selected 20%, the waitresses here have a wage (I'm from Ireland) unlike the USA where there is a tipping culture. I couldn't select the 0% as the card machine wouldn't let me which is...
Read moreI got the only vegetarian special of the day -- crispy tofu on salad with wide rice noodles, my partner got veggie pho. The noodles were spot on but the sauces were odd, less or inappropriate spice from what I expect in Vietnamese food. For example the pho had no white pepper but the broth had sugary tinned or otherwise synthesised coconut milk, and my dish had less sauce / vinegar than I expected and the sprinkled spice on the top tasted like "Mr. Dash" or some such European standard. We were sitting right next to the sushi fish and it didn't look particularly good / fresh, but on the other hand the guys making maki were taking immense care and making beautiful things, and the place was fairly full with happy tables even though it was the weekend and it's in a business area. It was mostly groups of trendy adults (30ish?) but some families with children. Both Germans and international tourists. The service was pretty fast but kind of abrupt, they probably assumed we were tourists who wouldn't come back (wrong, we just...
