Read moreSo my coworker and I thought that we would check out this place for lunch since we walk by this place every day to reach our work and the u6 line. My coworker, who's from Italy first pointed out how cold the waiters were as he exchanged pleasantries in Italian. The food was decent at best, extremely disappointing at worst. My friend/coworker ordered the paccheri con tonno e pomodoro pachino (paccheri with tuna) and I ordered the linguine con gamberoni (linguine with shrimp) and while my plate was a decent portion, my coworker's was infuriatingly small. His dish was priced 3-4x times what the ingredients would be to make it at home yourself. I personally believe that if food is really well made and the ingredients are fresh and delicious, then paying double or triple the price is worth it. However, there wasn't anything special with the preparation and though the seafood itself was thankfully cooked, there wasn't anything intriguing about the flavor for it to stand out on its own. Living in Germany, you get used to a lack of customer service; as long as the food comes out in a decent time, and they don't mess up your order, you're pretty content. However, not only did we have to wait a long time to pay after receiving the check, the waiter kept telling us that tip isn't included and that we should pay something for the less than mediocre service. We paid with card and added the tip in our totals, so being told to add more for bad service was not only rude, but insulting. Tips to tourists, people working and living in the area, don't go here. If you're not starving, take the u2 (Stadtmitte- Alexanderplatz) and u5 (Alexanderplatz-Strausberger Platz) and go to Ristorante A Mano for fantastic Italian waiters who care about you and care about their cuisine. Or check out German-Italian fusion restaurant in Mitte called Rosemarin (take u6 at checkpoint charlie and get off at Oranienburger Tor). Save your cash and your appetite for a place...
Sale e Tabacchi is a well established Italian restaurant located just near checkpoint Charlie. It has existed for over 30 years. Established in 1995.
When you go to their website, you will not find the menu because the menu is made on a daily basis. They do have regular dishes, but there’s lots of things that they add to the menu that makes it interesting every time you go there.
We had bruschetta and it looks like mozzarella, but it’s not. It’s like very creamy very tasty.
We went there because we wanted the same dish from this film, eat pray love and they gave us exactly that pasta dish you’ll see.
I was very pleased with the meal we had that evening.
The restaurant still holds the standards of the now retired manager, Nino and is carried on by my favorite waiter, Walter.
During the Berlinale many famous people go there to eat in February when this event happens with films and stuff like that here in BERLIN.
Garden area.
There’s a really nice garden area in the back where you can sit and eat and enjoy your meal in the summertime. It’s all white tablecloth stuff and the service is great.
This is why I give it five stars all the way. Besides that I’m in a big fan...
Read moreI went there based on a recommendation from the receptionist at my hotel. I arrived there and awaited near to the main door to be seated for 5 minuets and the waitress was looking at me many times and ignoring me after I said hello excuse me!!
Then, a waiter told me to enter the restaurant the restaurant. I asked for a table and another waiter pointed out to a table. I sat there and was waiting for someone to bring me an English menu but no one brought anything until I asked for it.
The waitress who was ignoring me previously brought me a menu and put it on the table angrily. I was smiling at them and waiting for them to take my order but they even didn’t notice me until i put on my coat and left the restaurant. Service is so very poor, limited options and very high prices. Definitely...
