Hatay Ocakbasi — Restaurant in Berlin

I'm not Turkish, and I've been visiting this restaurant on a daily basis for more than 1.5 months (believe it or not). I traveled quite a bit across continents, and I don't remember a restaurant where the quality of the food remained as stably high over such a long period as it did here at Hatay.

The staff has been friendly since the day 1, and by now I even feel we have sort of a relationship developed. They are such lovely people along with being so hard working, which, in a way, is not surprising giving how full the place gets sometimes and that it's open daily till 2am. I have no much more to feel but a huge appreciation for that, along with feeling appreciated.

Most places near by are closed by 10pm at best. So, Hatay is really unique here – in a historical center of Berlin, less than 100m away from one of the points of the most intense ideological conflicts of the 20th century.

From what I saw, on weekends Hatay fires up with traditional parties. And while I'm not into parties, I can see vividly how that contributes to the community. And while I witnessed number of those, I never saw even a minor accident – everything was carried out in a very positive manner.

That may sound oversaturated, but to me this place is an example of how thing as human, cross cultural, and cross generational respect and generosity fulfill their meaning.

I hope your experience will be just as amazing as mine:) Btw, it's not like an expensive high-end restaurant. I get full for 15-25 EUR depending on whether I get a drink or not.

On the downsides... well, maybe once I've been brought a cutlery like 5 seconds after the initial dish, but come on... I'm putting that down here so that the readers don't have an impression like I was anyhow rewarded for putting this overwhelmingly positive...

This Turkish grill house in Berlin is truly one of a kind! The flavor of the meat is absolutely outstanding; every bite reflects the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs. It's safe to say that this was the best meat we've ever had in Berlin.

The prices are very reasonable, and the portion sizes are surprisingly large. These generous portions, paired with exceptional flavors, create an unforgettable feast. The complimentary side dishes are another highlight: warm bread, delicious appetizers, and fresh salads turn the table into a true culinary celebration.
