Brauhaus Sion — Restaurant in Cologne

Previously visited 6 months ago in April & had a fantastic experience, not so much this time. Service was good until we came to pay. Paid by card, or tried to but the Internet connection wasn't working properly so we're asked to pay at another terminal, which we did. We checked bank account & showed payment taken twice. The bar staff didn't listen despite us showing him the evidence on phone, manager came over. Very rude man, blatantly refused to accept what we were showing him. No customer service skills at all. They suggested we check account next day & if still showing it "would be sorted out!" I had no faith in this & left feeling frustrated & out of pocket €50. We couldn't go back the following day as leaving for home so decided to dispute the payment with our card provider who thankfully could see 2 payments clearly & have now been fully refunded. Won't be returning to this establishment purely due to the way we were treated. There are better Brauhaus in Cologne with great customer service: Gaffel, Fruh, Peters. If you do go to Sion, don't...

Probably the worst dining experience I’ve had ever. But not because of the food.

I was out with a large group of people. We had ordered soup for everyone on forehand, and when we arrived and sat down, we were greeded by a waiter who was very loud and shouted several times that our food was on the way. It wasn’t though. There was no more soup contrary to what the waiter said. We were finally found out an hour after we sat down by contacting some other personelle.

Meanwhile same waiter interrupted speeches, shouted nonsense through the room which seemed to startle people, and behaved like he was either drunk or otherwise on the influence. When I approached him to tell him what his presence was like, he just winked and blew kisses at me, which was condescending to say the least.

He obviously didn’t care about his guests’ experience, and unfortunately neither did the manager when we told him about what we had experienced.

Maybe it’s different if you go just a couple of people, but I’d definitely recommend you to spend your money...

We got pretty bad food (schnitzel barely had any taste, and you get them way better in all other restaurants in Köln). It took a while to get a waiter's attention when we wanted to pay, as the waiters were fighting each other (don't know about what).

When I paid, I offered a 1 euro tip. Nothing more, as I think both the food and service were below par. The waiter, however, got offended by the little tip I offered and didn't accept it. I just looked at him and thought: whatever, your loss. So I paid the bill, and then the waiter again got mad at me about offering only 1 euro of tip. I didn't respond and walked away after I paid, leaving the restaurant with a mad waiter who kept shouting at me as I walked out.

Never had such a terrible experience in a restaurant.

There are countless of these places in the centre of Köln: go to another one. Most I've been to have great food and fantastic staff. They deserve your well earned money.
