LyLy - Köln — Restaurant in Cologne

We recently visited LyLy Restaurant in Cologne and had a mixed experience.

Ambience: The interior is inviting and nicely decorated, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. However, the space was uncomfortably warm and felt quite stuffy. Unfortunately, there was no noticeable air circulation or air conditioning, which significantly impacted the comfort of our dining experience, especially on a warmer day.

Live Music: The live music performance was excellent and added a wonderful touch to the overall experience. It was tasteful, well-executed, and created a pleasant vibe without being overwhelming. Definitely one of the highlights of our visit.

Food: We ordered the turkey schnitzel, salmon, steak, and hamsi. While the hamsi and steak were decent, both the turkey schnitzel and salmon were disappointing. The schnitzel was very dry and clearly overcooked — a real shame, especially given the portion size was extremely small. It couldn’t have been more than 100 grams, which is not acceptable for the price of €19.90. The salmon had a similar issue — it was over-seared, with the bottom side already browned and a bit too crispy, lacking the tenderness you’d expect.

Overall, while the service and certain dishes were satisfactory, the value for money and temperature control in the dining space leave room for improvement. LyLy has potential, but some key elements need to be addressed for a truly...

We had an awful experience at Lyly. We had diner on the terrasse and my guest bag (with phone and passport) was stolen by a pickpocket.

We immediately asked for the waiter assistance but he basically yelled at me saying it was not his problem and he was too busy. Her colleague was more polite and said they would call the police for us and check on their security camera. The waiter yelled at her too for this and on several other occasions, it really looked like he had a mental disorder...

They kept us waiting for 45mn until we found out that they never actually called... We left to go to the closest police station without any word or any support of any kind, just anger words in German from the guy...

Cherry on the top, when I paid (230€ for 6 for average Turkish food) I realized they over charged me 12€ for extra service (!!). They tried to take advantage of the situation as we were anxious to find a solution for our friend. I had to argue to get a refund...

I travel a lot, I think I rarely saw such bad hosting and rudeness in a restaurant. I would definitely not...

Only our table did not come to take our order. Why is it that other customers' orders were taken?

We saw a waiter lady and a man at the bar counter, but she was the only one who took the orders. She kept ignoring us and kept taking other customers' orders.

At first we waited for her, thinking it was because she was busy, but after waiting for over 15 minutes we realized this was ignoring us. We had to leave the restaurant without eating anything.

If they don't want to serve Asians, they should just not let us in the restaurant. All we did was sit down, decide on the menu and wait for our order, nothing else.

We even asked if we could take our seats, so they shouldn't have been so childish as to ignore us. It was really unpleasant and a waste of time. I have been to many different cities in Germany on this trip and this is my only and worst memory of...
