FOOD & DRINKS The Mala Paitan Ramen is sublime but unfortunately limited! I am usually more a fan of the tonkotsu broth but they did the chicken broth justice. It is just as flavorful and smooth. The spice level is probably just right for most customers but I would suggest to add chili pepper on the table. I wouldn't mind to make it more spicy. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. I still want to warn you that for some people the broth might taste a bit too salty. Also did I mention that most of the ramen options can be ordered as a vegetarian version with a meat substitute? That is super rare for a Japanese ramen spot!
SERVICE The staff is super nice and friendly. Top service.
ATMOSPHERE Young, bright and modern. The location is a bit more hidden compared to the other well known ramen shops around the area but that works for me. Less waiting time for a seat.
RATING They got it all. A nice location, wonderful staff and great quality products. The condiments could have more variety by adding the before mentioned red chili pepper or fresh garlic but I can overlook this and give a...
Read moreWe waited in line for more than 1.5hours, a group of 6 adults and a baby. We waited outside in the rain. Then they allowed ppl behind us to get seated because it’s a party of 2. Okay we understood. Then we saw a big table is available and we even said we could split to 2 tables since it’s getting too late. And we addressed this, the woman was so mad at us and said that we are the last one in line while we were already by the point to be the first in line! Unbelievable! Never had this level of rudeness in other Takumi! Then the supervisor came and told us we have to wait in line and not cutting line (as what he was informed by her!) So we explained to him that we’ve been waiting in line and we came way before the rest and he finally understood and gave us the table. after we finish our meal, literally minutes after, the rude woman (remember) she took all our plates, chopsticks, napkins. We couldn’t even catch our breath first after the meal and kinda force to go. What an experience. The other takumis are better! Better staffs and...
Read moreYour street side everyday run of the mill ramen place. However with the context that this ramen place is in Düsseldorf, then all credit to them on how good their ramen tastes.
We were a group of 2. For starters, we ordered the Chicken Gyoza and then for the mains, Tan Tan Spicy Karage Ramen and the Tan Tan Spicy Veggie Ramen.
The Chicken Gyoza were good but you can easily get frozen ones from the supermarket and do it yourself at home. Good but nothing incredible.
On to the mains, the Tan Tan Spicy Karage Ramen came with 2 fried Karage, 2 slices of chicken and a light assortment of complementary vegetables. Putting it together, it was pretty good. All the ingredients came together nicely. Do take note it might be a little spicy if you usually don’t eat any spice at all. For those who do eat even some spice, it’s fully palatable.
Overall, no frills, get your ramen and get out. Be prepared to queue during busy meal time hours. I would come back if I’m craving for a decent...
