BACK TO THE FUTURE REVIEW: MONDAY JULY 28, 2025
QUITE FRANKLY, IT IS UNREAL THAT 6 YEARS HAVE FLOWN BY WITHOUT MY WIFE CHRISTINE AND I RETURNING TO DINE AT GOC PHO.
EXTREMELY BUSY WITH OUR CME IMMOBILIEN BUSINESS AND CHRISTINE BLESSED WITH NOW 7 GRANDCHILDREN, EVERY TIME THAT WE WALKED TO GOC PHO, THERE WAS A LINE QUEUING DOWN THE BLOCK.
AND TODAY WE KNOW WHY THE CROWD.
THE SAME EXTRAORDINARY FOOD THAT WE ENJOYED PRE-PLANNEDEMIC BACK IN 2019, WAS TODAY FRONT-AND-CENTER.
HENDRICK ~ OUR SERVER, WAS EXTREMELY KIND AND ATTENTIVE TO ALL OF OUR REQUESTS.
THE EXACT SAME HOMEMADE EXTRA CRISPY CHA GIO GA SPRING ROLLS WERE OUTSTANDING.
AS WAS CHRISTINE'S GORGEOUSLY DECORATED AND SUMPTUOUS PLATTER OF COM CHIEN THAP CAM (MEAT, SHRIMP, CHICKEN, VEGETABLE & EGG FRIED RICE.
MY PHO BO WAS AS AUTHENTIC AS FOUND IN SAIGON:
A HEARTY BROTH LADEN WITH TENDER SLICES OF BEEF AND STACKED HIGH WITH AL DENTE NOODLES AND FRESH VEGETABLES ~ THE BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS!
THERE IS A SAYING:
"THAT YOU CAN'T GO BACK AND CHANGE THE BEGINNING, BUT YOU CAN CHANGE WHERE YOU ARE AND CHANGE THE ENDING."
WELL, CHRISTINE AND MY END-GAME IS TO GO BACK TO THE FUTURE WHICH IS GOC PHO.
A HEARTFELT CONGRATS TO PHUONG ANH & DENNIS GODEHARDT ON MAINTAINING THEIR EPICUREAN VIETNAMESE QUALITY, VALUE PRICING AND CASUALLY ELEGANT AMBIANCE! 2 ENCORE REVIEWS: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2025 & MONDAY SEPTEMBER 22, 2025
Having owned 3 restaurants in my life, I personally know how challenging this business is.
The mark of an EXCELLENT restaurant is 2-fold: ° Quality sustainability and consistency over 5 years ° Operating seamlessly without the owners being present
On both of our recent visits, Góc Phố skyrocketed like an F1 Ferrari racer blasting on all 12 cylinders!
Without an equal, Góc Phố features the very, very best Phố Bo and spring rolls in Western Europe.
I heartily recommend that everyone within driving distance of Frankfurt visits Góc Phố before Christmas.

Read moreWas here yesterday (Easter Saturday) so it was quite busy. Luckily, called up about a week in advance to make a booking.
Take note: when I rang up they said straight up I would have the table from 12:30 to 14:00. Also they assign you a number instead of asking for your name.
Furthermore, do not call during their busy lunch or dinner period - I have done this before and I was told by a flustered staff member that they were fully booked. When I arrived there at around 17:00 on the weekday that I had planned to, I got a table. Yes it was early, but to be told they were fully booked when they weren’t was sort of irritating.
I do enjoy this restaurant, as the food is quick and fresh and perhaps more authentic than other Vietnamese restaurants in Frankfurt. However, for Vietnamese and other Asian nationalities, they might deem the cuisine as not authentic - guys, keep in mind this is an Asian restaurant in GERMANY so they usually have to adjust to the tastes/preferences of the locals.
I got the Bún Bò Nướng, which I usually get and never disappoints. I have had the Phở here before and it is also delicious.
If you need sauces, you have to ask for it or just grab the caddy if they are busy.
Service is usually friendly, however we were served by an older woman who was abrupt/blunt. I wasn’t surprised, I’m sort of used to this in Asian restaurants anywhere but also it was busy so I don’t blame her, but if you need to be all buttered up don’t say you’ve not been warned.
Also, toilets were clean and if you need a high chair, they have them available.
Do recommend, even if there are a few kinks...
Read moreI tend not to post such reviews, but unfortunately my experience was really negative. Firstly, I get sometimes you’re having a bad day, but the staff weren’t friendly, they weren’t rude, but not friendly. I have ordered summer rolls, they were very dry, despite of the good taste of meat, it was not enough to improve the whole experience. Second I had CÓM THIT XÁO XA OT, it was barely flavourful and cold! My rice, veggies and chicken were barely warm and more cold, I have told them kindly about it. They have took my plate and most likely heated in microwave, which was barely enough to heat the rice but not the whole dish, chicken and vegetables were still cold. I have refused to eat it tbh, cos it was not worth it. They have seen that I haven’t eaten any, but they have waited till I excused myself to the toilet to take the plates!
My friend had an Ice Tee which was warm and tasted weirdly. Definitely it wasn’t their day, as I have heard other customers complaining about their drinks, as they weren’t cold.
The funny thing, I was gonna pay for the things that I had, but the dish I have barely touched it. They were gonna substitute my drink order, but still make me pay for the food 😅. I have refused of course and happily paid for my drink and summer rolls.
Again, I don’t know if it is always like this, or just today. However, I can’t really recommend it...
