Born 1951 in San Francisco and a fan of Japanese cuisine, Ura-Hara conjured fond memories of my enjoying Shabu-Shabu, Teppanyaki, Tempura, Sushi and Yakitori.
Ura-Hara's ramen is authentic and scrumptious, featuring generous portions of fresh veggies, tender roast pork and al dente noodles.
What sets Ura-Hara apart is their amazingly flavorful chicken broth, that makes their ramen identical to Tokyo's and Osaka's "THE REAL DEAL."
The servers were extremely polite and kind, assuring that our every request was attended to.
The setting is like Windows on the World, showcasing Frankfurt's Zeil pedestrian shopping mall.
My wife Christine and I strongly recommend Ura-Hara, our absolute #1 Japanese restaurant in Germany.

ENCORE VISIT: SEPTEMBER 2, 2025
Having owned 3 restaurants, I know first-hand the passion that a proprietor must have to be successful.
It was heartwarming today on my second visit to witness owner Takayuki Tamura engage with his team.
Leading by example, he was a busy beaver carrying trays and smiling to his staff as they all worked joyfully as a unit.
Exactly as on the first visit, my ramen was exquisitely and authentically scrumptious as well as sumptuous, featuring thick slices of tender roast pork and crispy veggies.
As Autumn approaches, I encourage all of my fellow Frankfurters to enjoy a piping hot bowl of delicious ramen, while gazing high above The Zeil.
Ura Hara ~ most definitely a 5 Star experience.
Frankfurt's very best and authentic...
Read moreTop service but this is the first bowl of ramen in Frankfurt that I couldn’t finish.
I ordered yuzu shio + chicken broth with an extra egg. It is not easy to make yuzu shio well-balanced but since the reviews are so high, I sat my standards high and decided to order yuzu shio. There was absolutely ZERO hint of yuzu, not in the broth, not shredded on top, nowhere. Why not just call this shio?
I love a salty bowl of ramen but the broth is way TOO salty even for shio ramen. It is just salt water with a hint of chicken broth, and the chicken flavor is barely there. Shio ramen should be delicate, salty but light with flavors.
Did not like the bak choy choice on ramen either. Pork chashu and the egg however, were not bad.
Portion size was a lot, or maybe it was just the salt that filled me up. Who knows.
Strawberry matcha was just ok but I shouldn’t have expected more as it is not a real cafe. With that being said, for 6,50€, it is overpriced.
5 star for the service and waitress. Maybe I will come again and try the creamy paitan and give this place another chance if I feel adventurous...
Read moreUra-Hara has been our go-to spot for Sunday lunch after the gym for over half a year. Located in the MyZeil shopping center in Frankfurt, it offers a great view of the bustling Zeil shopping street from its windows.
The recent menu update is a significant improvement, and we were pleasantly surprised. The ramen is excellent, with various spice levels that cater to different preferences. A highlight is the wide selection, including vegetarianand vegan options alongside the classic tonkotsu ramen.
However, during our last visit, the service was unusually slow, and we had to wait longer than usual for our food. Normally, the kitchen is much quicker. The seating and tables could also be improved, as they don’t quite match the modern and stylish atmosphere. That said, the view of the Zeil adds to the overall experience.
Despite these minor issues, we highly recommend visiting Ura-Hara. The quality of the food and its convenient location in MyZeil make it a great choice for ramen lovers...
